Is there a website to compare all the DVC properties. We toured SSR but don't know anything about the other properties available at Disney. Still in the "trying to decide" if this is right for us stage. Thanks for your help.

I know everyone has there opinion, but I like allearsnet.com. It has pictures and lots of info on all the resorts at WDW. Happy hunting and good luck with your decision.

I agree, I like allearsnet.com too. Here is a link to the page that has alll of the fact sheets on the Home Away From Home Resorts. Just scroll down the left side.

Thanks for the suggestions. Now if it was that easy to decide whether resale or new purchase.

Cost and number of years of the contract should help you with that decision. SSR will be more costly, but will have 12 additional years on the contract. If you are of an age where those 12 years don't mean much to you (like me), then you might want to go for a resale at another DVC resort that appeals to you. Learn as much as you can about the resorts first and maybe even tour them so you have a good idea about your preferences. Each of us here owns at specific places for specific reasons. Needless to say, we are all pretty preferencial to our own resort, but for different reasons. Your preferences may vary, so learn as much as you can before buying.

I saved over $10 per point by purchasing a resale. Disney treats me the same as if I had bought from them. I even got a welcome package.

The one possible disadvantage is that Disney will give you all of the points for the current use year. Many resales come with points too, but you will generally have to repay the seller for maintenance fees.

Give Pat at The Timeshare Store a call. She can answer all your questions.

Typically the buyer will pay the maintenance fees for current year points. However, one of the main advantanges to a resale (at least from our perspective) is that there may be banked points available for which you typically don't pay maintenance fees. The two contracts we purchased this year had enough banked points for us to get a 2-bedroom during mid-October for 8 nights (including two weekend nights) - since we didn't pay maintenance fees, we consider this trip to be a "freebie"!!

Also, all fees are negotiable between the seller and buyer!
