So we are taking the kids to Epcot World Showcase for the first time. It's their 3rd trip to WDW but the first time we are venturing to the World Showcase with them. For me, World Showcase gives me an opportunity to try new things to eat that I do not other wise get to try.
My kids will only be 9 and 7. They are VERY picky eaters- they like fried fish, chicken fingers, pasta with butter and grilled cheese. DH thinks that we should just skip making ADR for any table service and just grab and go from counter service for both lunch and dinner. Part of me thinks this is a good idea because we can try more things, split a light 'meal' here and there and experience a bit more than if we made sit down ressies. But part of me thinks this is just SO wrong. I've been reading menu after menu and I just can't decide because there is almost something I want at almost every country! LOL!! We are only planning 1 Epcot day - don't have park hoppers so can't just cruise over to the world showcase for a late dinner or anything....
Why do I almost feel guilty about it???? :confused3

I think you should have a sit down dinner if you'd like. You may regret it if you don't. Most restaurants have food that is accomodating for children. My kids get chicken tenders almost everywhere we go! lol! And if not, you can always have your meal and then grab something CS for them afterward.

I don't think you should feel guilty at all! We took DS to WDW for the first time when he was 8 and right from that first trip, EPCOT has been his favorite Park. He, too, was a picky eater but over the years, Disney has actually helped him branch out so that now at 16 he is a real foodie. He tries something new each trip.

That said, we like snacking around the World Showcase so we can try a bunch of different things. We almost always have a snack around the World day with a TS dinner reservation.

Is that something your husband would consider?

When are you going to Disney? If it's during the Food and Wine Festival in the Fall, then your problems are solved! You and your husband can choose multiple fun, exotic things to eat from the various countries while stopping at the America pavilion to pick up some chicken nuggets for the kids!

Otherwise...what about picking one restaurant that has something entertaining for the kids to watch while you eat. I'd feed them first, so they're not hungry and cranky, but then go ahead to a fun restaurant where they'll be entertained and you can eat. Marrakesh has the belly dancer...Biergarten in Germany has entertainment...Japan also has the open kitchen where you can watch the chef...Mexico's San Angel Inn is in a beautiful setting, and if you can score a table that overlooks the attraction boats going by, that would be great!

Good luck!! Enjoy your stay!!!

Based on your ticker, you will be there during Food & Wine. We took our grandchildren this past year (ages 7 and 9) and they didn't enjoy the browsing from booth to booth or having to wait in the lines. Even during the week, the lines may get long in the afternoon/evening and finding a place to sit down at the CSs can be challenging. We tried to keep them entertained with their Epcot passports and getting them stamped in each country but in all honesty, it wasn't a place they really enjoyed.

I'd make one TS ADR at World Showcase. If your kids enjoy fried fish, you may consider going to Rose and Crown as that's an option on the children's menu.
