Saturday 1st July 2006
Today we all had long lie and it was much needed. We have only been in tourist shops and Walmart up until now and we were all keen to head off to a mall.
We arrived at Florida Mall around lunchtime. After seeing the food court our tummies starting to rumble so before we even got started looking around the shops it was off to ‘chow down.’ Craig had a meal from Taco Bell which had very spicy sauce and the girls and I ordered from Subway. I still can’t believe that with so much choice (around 15 different food outlets) that we ended up choosing Subway and having what we normally have back home!
Suitably fed we headed off around the mall. It is a fantastic place and so many interesting shops. The girls and I were looking to buy Crocs but there were none to fit the girls and I decide that I did not find the original style as comfy as I thought so I bought a pair of Athens for $31.94. Lime green and pink ones!!
We must have been in nearly every shop and some more than once. We spent a fair amount and got some great bargains including Zoey 101 clothes for Holly, a cheerleading lunch bag for Rowan that nobody back home will have, clothing for me and ….. nothing for Craig! We also looked at buying a pair of wheelie trainers for Rowan but she decided that they were too dangerous – that’s my girl!
For dinner we headed to our regular haunt – Sweet Tomatoes. Today the menu had changed and there was no Hot Lemon Lava Cake *cry* but lots of scrummy new stuff to try. The girls loved the red, white and blue sprinkles for the for 4th July weekend.
Next we headed off to Festival Bay for a game of glow-in-the-dark minigolf at Putting Edge. I supervised Holly and Rowan while Craig browsed the shops. The minigolf was quite good fun and the score was Rowan – 81 and Holly – 92. Craig saw the need to buy another pair of sunglasses but as he bought nothing earlier on I kept my thoughts to myself, LOL.
By now it was around 8pm and we decide to go to Seaworld to see Believe as we had been too tired at Seaworld on day 2 of our holiday and had left without seeing Shamu. We drove there in no time at all and as it was late there was no parking charge. We headed straight to the Shamu Stadium and chose seats that were not in the splash zone.
The atmosphere was great and the show was superb. We really loved the whole theme and of course the amazing stunts that were performed. The music and narration was brilliant and we came away alternating between excited chattering and deep contemplation.
The girls wanted to head to the Shamu Happy Harbour area for a while and they went on the Shamu Express several times in a row. We bought an ace ride photo!
As we were heading towards the exit we passed Wild Arctic and saw that it was still open. We headed inside and were on the last ride of the day. I have to say that I didn’t like this as it is a simulator – my brain just seems to tell me that something is not quite right and I felt a bit sick. I liked the walk though bit afterwards but we did not get to spend a lot of time here as the park was closing.
We heard a lot of popping noises as we joined the crowds heading out. We discovered what it was when we went into a shop and saw little pop guns. We promptly bought two and started popping like mad!
On the way back to the hotel we went to Dunkin’ Donuts drive thru for a selection box of 12. They were delicious, again. We love donuts. I went to sleep feeling very full and a bit like Homer Simpson – mmmmmmmm – donuts!
Tomorrow – Disney MGM Studios and park fatigue
