That link is from the original fine against them. It made the news again this month when SWA was able to reduce the fine to $7+ million instead. I assume the fine hurt them a bit, so I am sure they have cleaned up their act. Either way, it still makes this nervous flyer go "hmmmm."

On a positive note, 2 friends of mine are air traffic controllers and they told me that if I'm flying Southwest then I'm in good hands and have nothing to worry about.

I am a big fan of SW airlines. In one of my recent classes, we had to profile a company's corporate culture. One of the teams chose SW. It made me an even bigger fan of the airline! They are truly a business who values their employees. I wish all businesses followed their model.

We tried AirTran a few times, but I always come back to SW. Now if only we could get them to fly to China...
