from 2 peas:

I was told at the EK party last December that 18x18 is the size that Martha personally scraps and that she has her albums custom (hand) made in Paris for $500 and "that we're very lucky to be able to purchase them for just $80." That made me laugh so hard I was afraid I was going to pee my pants! First of all, I'd bet my last darn penny that the quality ain't nearly the same as her precious $500 album and how condescending (from the EK rep as well as Martha) to say that I'm lucky to get it for $80, as if I couldn't have a $500 handmade creation if I wanted to!

I about busted a gut laughing. She can't get a custom made album here in the us? pretentious comes to mind again here. :) maggie

This almost made me spit coffee at the screen!! :rotfl2:

Gee, thanks, Martha, for gracing us peons with your wonderfully splendiferous albums!! ;)

You two are so funny.

So is Martha, but more in a sad, pathetic kind of way.

Ya know, does she realize that most people scrap on a table or a desk? This is her target market. Her marketing team is crazy. Martha may scrap in $500 albums that she can hire someove to lift, I scrap on a desk, and an 18 x 18 album would take up the whole thing.

I can also see me dropping that bad boy in someones lap..."Want to see the pics of our last cruise...?" Then sepnding the rest of the night saying how sorry I am for the hernia :sad2:

Oh well, I wonder how long this will last. Mike's will tire of having product that doesn't move, and start dumping it soon enough...

Oh that's hilarious! What a great visual for the morning! :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I agree with everything you've all written! I just don't get why Mike's even wants to carry it! This larger size is going to take up more shelf space...meaning fewer products & less profit! Sorry to our fellow male scrappers, but a man must have made this marketing decision! :lmao:

I wonder if she used a $500 album to scrap her "Journals From Jail"?:scratchin :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I'd bet Martha doesn't even scrap- she has someone do it for her just like everything else. She doesn't sit around all day thinking up ideas, she has a team of people for that. What Martha is banking on is name recognition to sell her oversized, overpriced junk. And to not allow the customer to use a coupon for it is simply a bad marketing move and, well just :snooty: . I too have to wonder how long it will be before we see her wares on clearance?

I would never scrap 18 x 18! One layout would take me a month!

That was hilarious!!! :rotfl2: I give it a year and her stuff will be half price because no one wants it. Even if I liked it which I don't her comments on this whole scrapbook industry make me want to boycott her whole line and Michaels too. Although they also have a cute new exclusive Disney line. But after I get all those items I am going to stay away from Michaels!

I personally don't like MS.. I think she is full of it... and her gracing our lives w/ her style makes me gag. I guess she'll never be gracing my doorstep because I don't like her home design style and I won't even look at it! Another reason I don't shop at KMART any longer! I'll stick to my ho-hum life style and scrapping and she can hope that she makes a profit of this stuff...because she won't be getting any money off me and my family.. I've been talking to my mom about this and read her the article.... she said MS could go somewhere and it wasn't very nice!

What the heck does Martha scrapbook(Her house...her money...) she is in this for $$$$$, I doubt she scrapbooks! I was curious, went to Mike's to check out her line, won't be buying it(OK when things hit the clearance rack, I might!) Do not like her...she is too plastic(not real, ya know) I aM NOT happy about the comments she has made regarding the scrapbook industry and I am especially upset at the Wall Street Journal and the reporter who wrote that article(IDIOT!!!)

Geez...I feel better now

Come over to the UK - an MS-free zone! If you don't mind paying $65 for a CM coverset and $1.20 for a 12x12 sheet of Bazzill that is :lmao: Is it a price worth paying? :rolleyes1

Have you seen how big this is? I was just there and there's no way! It's so big I had to use two hands to hold this baby! And it was empty....just the pages. Once you add all your pictures and all the extras that baby will weight too much to look at! I won't be buying this size.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one *floored* by MS's newfound interest in the hobby. I took a long look at her offerings on Sunday and, frankly, the "style" that she is selling is what scrappers were doing 5 years ago. I know that trends come back but, personally, I don't think that the crap she is selling will ever come back. I hate that Michaels devoted so much shelf space to MS's line - it's just AWFUL! Oh well, hopefully it will be clearenced out in a few months and we'll get back to trendy, GOOD stuff!

I can't imagine scrapping that big. The pages wouldn't even fit on my desk! As it is, when I am working on a 12x12 album, I have to bring out some portable tables.

And I assume you have to go to Michaels to get the "special" paper and embellishments, too, huh? Oh, sorry, I forgot it's Martha...the album comes with a recipe to make your own paper scraps that you recycle by chewing them into mush!

Geez!

:rotfl2: I hear some major sarcasm there!!!
Good thing she didn't inspire me to be a homemaker or mom or business person!!!

I know. The few times I have watched her shows, I always turn the tv off thinking, "huh?". I just don't have the time to make my own pasta or hand paint my napkins or whatever. We need a daytime diva who does things the REAL way. You know, how to beat the bad lines at McDonalds or how to make PB&J sandwiches that don't ooze on the car seats on the way to soccer practice! :rotfl2:

The sad thing is, I'm not really kidding.

I totally agree!!!
Let's get a real diva to tell us how this works!!
I especially want the non-oozing PBJ... don't even get me on those non-crustable things.. the ones that are frozen for the kids to eat... that are smushed together.. My kids despise them... those flopped right into the trash can...instead of into their bellies!!
Yep, if she is on TV, I'd rather watch cartoons... even the dumb ones..
