This is why I shouldn't be allowed to operate a microwave by myself....

I just finished cleaning it out because I put a potato into bake and managed to cause the darn thing to explode all over my microwave.

I should know better. Last year, I managed to catch my shirt on fire  whilst barbecuing on the gas grill and I'm constantly burning my hands getting pizzas or whatever out of the oven.

I do not belong in the kitchen. Not cooking anyway...:-P

Thats what take out is for, silly girl!

PS. How is that sweet baby James?

 Please step away from any and all cooking devices, please step away. :p
I think you need to hire a chef. ::yes::

LOL :D

He's sleeping at the moment, Otto'sDoll. Other than that..good. :)

I think DH thinks I need a chef sometimes too. :teeth: Especially after I make him eat my 'experiments'. Like the other night, we were running short on food and I knew we were going to the grocery store in a day or two, but couldn't think of what to make for dinner. SO...I cooked a pound of ground chuck and set it aside. Cooked a bag of white rice and set that aside. Got out my best glass baking dish and lined the bottom with flour tortillas. Mixed the ground chuck with the rice and some canned chopped tomatoes. Dumped that on the tortillas and topped with shredded cheese. Topped that with more tortillas and more of the tomato/rice/meat mixture and topped that with more cheese. Into the oven it went. I thought it wasn't too bad. DH thought otherwise (you could tell from the look on his face), but was too nice to say anything. :)

Ummm - did you remember to pierce it with a fork before putting it in the microwave?

I was thinking the same thing, maybe insurance will pay for a personal chef! ;)

I can't get insurance to pay for birth control, what makes you think they're gonna pay for a personal chef? :teeth:

HAHA My dad's banned from the microwave....My first summer after I started college, I was home and doing summer school there. One morning before I woke up, he decided to boil eggs and make egg salad. Ok, good deal. So...They don't get totally cooked. He had the bright idea to put them in the microwave to "boil" the rest of the way. RIGHT......So like 6 exploded eggs in the microwave. YUM YUM! About 2 weeks later he's helping me with an assignment on the computer. I smell popcorn starting to burn, and since my mom is always making popcorn, I comment "Man, mom's burning that popcorn." He sort of nods, then gets this kind of green look on his face and says "That's not mom...." and runs into the kitchen....Turns out he set it on SIX minutes, when it only takes 3 in our microwave!! Our house stunk for days...it was hot too and we had to leave all the windows and doors open....There was a new one that happened recently but I forgot that one apparently....

Yes, pierce those potattoes about 4x, LOL.

Those mw explosions can be a real mess to clean up.

herc.

That's not too bad. I heard on the radio today about someone who turned their new microwave on and forgot to take the instruction book out. The book caught fire, the fire spread, and caused $80,000 damage to the house and another $25,000 to items in the house.

Seriously folks. This was an item on the news this evening. A man recently bought a microwave and apparently did not remove the manual from the microwave before using it. The microwave caught fire, the kitchen cabinets caught fire, the fire spread to the attic and so on. Fortunately it does not seem like anyone was injured but damage is estimated at $80,000.

That's ok, I nearly caught my kitchen on fire because of a Checker's hamburger. I was 16 and forgot to take the wrapper off of the burger before I warmed it up in the microwave. Duh...the wrappers have METAL in them!! Well, 4 or 5 seconds into it, the microwave started shooting sparks and my mom screamed at me trying to figure out what I was doing.

That darn burger tasted REALLY nasty when I took it out :crazy2: YUCK!

Another microwave story... I had a co-worker a few years ago that was heating up a breakfast sandwich in the microwave in our break room. She got called away and forgot about it. Intending to keep an eye on it, she had set the timer for about twenty minutes (it was a dial timer, not push button). Someone yelled from the break room and when I walked in the sandwich was on fire, flames and all! We threw a wet towel over it to put it out, but our break room smelled like burnt sandwich for the next couple of weeks.

When I was like 8 or 9 I almost set the kitchen on fire with a PopTart!!!! lol! Luckily the flaming toaster was really close to the sink and the fire only got caught on the cabinet light above it. I didn't touch the toaster for a week after that!

Yes I remembered to unplug it before pouring water on them both!

Oh yeah I also tried the burger with wrapper on a couple years ago! Thank goodness for a smarter younger sister!

Last year I almost caught the house on fire. I was cooking fries on the oven and my husband called me so I threw the potatoes in the oil and the oil spilled over and a fire rocket shot up and stupid me panicked and picked up water and threw it on the grease fire (smart me) which caused bigger fire screamed for my husband and ran away. Good thing he was there although if he wasn't I wouldn't of huried from the stove.

Ok so I forgot another one, but this time not on my dad. My freshman year of college I lived across the hall from these boys...I had dated one and we weren't on the best of terms. I knew he and his roomate had a couple girls from a rival school over for a "date" and I was staying locked in my room...So then I start smelling burning popcorn and I go out to investigate...The two girls are sitting on one of the beds, staring at the microwave, and the guys are nowhere to be found (they went through the bathroom into their suitemate's room). So I open the microwave only to find a bag of popcorn ON FIRE-I yelled for them to come take care of it, and the girls STILL sat there, staring at the microwave....Ok, so were they just going to let the building burn down before they said anything? DUH! That just added to my stories about that school...hehe
