Fireman17 - First off, thank you for your service to your community. I can't begin to imagine the love for fellow man that it takes to enter a burning building. DS19 is a volunteer firefighter for our local fire station. Starting next month, he is changing his major and college to get an Associate's Degree in Fire Protection Technology and then transferring to get his BS In Fire Safety Engineering Technology. He will then begin searching for a job as a Firefighter. His previous degree was something that would make way more money and be way safer, but when he told me he was wanting to change his major, he said "Mom, I just want to help people." How can a mom argue with that? It scares me to death to think of my baby boy doing this for a living but I know someone has to, and he feels a calling to it.
