This is when it's hard to have pets...*Sad Update

Happy update! George saw the vet internist, and no cancer! He does have an enlarged heart, but the vet said that isn't near as serious as the lung cancer diagnosis. I'm just happy he's not going anywhere anytime soon - More time to spoil him!
Jasper thinks that is great news................rawhides for everyone!!!!!!!!!!

My heart is soaring. I am so happy to hear this good news. Give all your babies a big hug from me.

Bella and Eva ( see below) would also like to say "woo hoo!!!! were so glad your pup is alright!" Well they would say it if they could stay awake long enough.

I've seen this thread since it started but didnt want to read it because I know I would have cried (I cry at anything unhappy animal related), but you were in my thoughts and I hoped you were strong and the animal wasnt suffering.

...... but when I saw the "Happy update" I came in - and i'm so glad for you.

As a person who prefers having dogs to having children I can totally understand how worried and upset you were, but thankgod its not as serious.

STAY WELL GEORGE :thumbsup2

Thank you for all the well-wishes for George! I feel like a weight has been lifted knowing I'll get to enjoy his company longer. Losing one of my four boys would leave a huge hole in our family, so I'm going to enjoy each and every day with them! :goodvibes

Sad update - We had to give George a peaceful goodbye today. He took a horrible turn for the worse yesterday, and he was really struggling to breathe last night and today. The vet told us that he was suffering. It was very peaceful, and my DH and I got to give him a loving goodbye, but this is SO much harder than I thought it would be. Even though I came home to my other three furry babies, there will always be an empty spot that George left behind. He was a wonderful dog and friend. :sad1:

I'm so sorry for your loss
I will be giving my 2 fur babies a big hug in honor of George.

My heart goes out to you. We also have a doxie named George. They are such wonderful pets with such individual personalities. My sincere sympathy for the loss of your baby.

I am so sorry for your lost. You can go to sleep knowing you did everything possible for him.

I am so so sorry for your loss! I know exactly how you feel. One week ago tonight I had to put my 15 yr old Siamese cat ****oo down. I could tell she was drinking and urinating a lot (kidney failure) and then just started to look so skinny. That morning I woke up and weighed her and saw she had lost so much weight. She went to the vet later that night and he said she wasn't in pain but definitely failing. I couldn't just wait for her to die, so she was put to sleep. I am still crying every day, sometimes will just lose it. I know I did the right thing and that is getting me through. I miss her every minute though, as does her 11 year old daughter who cries all times of day and night. I am so sorry for your loss, but just think of that Rainbow Bridge poem - you will be together again some day! :goodvibes:goodvibes

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear furbaby. I know your pain all too well. I hope happy memories comfort you.

Erika

I know how you feel. We had a wonderful Dauchsund for many years. From the time I was three until College. Konrad had a great personality and we still miss him many years later.

Now I have a cat, Rascal who has been with me for a long time and I fear what happens when I have to say goodbye to him.

I'm sorry for your loss. I love the pic in your first post. Our long-haired daschund, Indy, will turn 1 next month (we were without a dog for over 2 years before I finally agreed to Indy.) DH has mentioned getting another, and I told him no. Now I'm rethinking it because of your photo. They're adorable. I'm sure they miss George as well.

I'm so sorry for your loss - losing our furbabies is incredibly painful. You did the best you could do for him, even though it's so hard to make that decision. Prayers and pixie dust to you and your family for comfort and healing. :grouphug:

I'm so sorry. I am a mom to 3 furbabies. All over 12 years old. I know how hard it is for you. We love and care for them and they become a part of us. They will always be in your heart.
