This is what I was NOT looking forward to...

If someone is elderly, injured, handicapped, pregnant, or just having a hard time, then someone should stand and give them their seat.
Of course there are several things that make standing difficult that can’t be easily discerned. But there’s no easy solution to that problem. People can wait for another bus, but then they have to stand while waiting.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I like the idea of always having a seat and never standing, but I also like the idea of not having to wait longer than I have to to get on a bus.

We fly and don’t rent a car so we are totally dependent on Disney transportation and we will just roll with the punches. If worse comes to worse we always have the option to Uber/Lyft to where we need to go.

I don't mind it, I'm height challenged as well and it does cause some interesting situations sometimes when standing on the bus, but oh well, I get to know the person next to me real well. My adult son actually prefers to stand, he has nerve damage in his spine and standing feels better than sitting most of the time for him. He is always fast to jump up and let someone sit if the bus is crowded. I always have a car with me since I live in GA and it's cheaper to drive down and I park it and don't get in it again until we leave. I rely totally on WDW transportation. We don't try to rope drop and rarely stay until park close so we tend to not have a lot of crowded buses anyway. My son says crowded buses remind him of college so he doesn't mind them.

Just wait for the next bus if you would like a seat. It's really not that difficult.

The problem is many ailments are hidden. You can’t always tell who really needs a seat.

I think if you know you need to sit on the bus and it’s full, don’t get on it. As others have said, wait for the next bus, or better yet, rent a car or Uber.

I have really bad shoulder issues now and no way can I hold the high bars and not hurt myself. So renting a car it is. Back in 2019 we stood on every bus and a few drivers don't seem to care that folks are standing and slam on breaks and speed up way to fast. Some less strong folks acually fell over from the movements.

I also have issues with my shoulders. two shavings of my scapula and it is still painful to raise my arm above my head.

fwiw, i stood on the bus (pre covid) just fine if I have a pole to lean on but It is an issue if I have to hold on to one of the straps. I am in my early 50s and don't expect anyone to give up a seat for me and I am happy to give up my seat for an elderly person.

IMO, there are more Disney buses on the road now than before covid. We may drive in October, but I don't like driving to the park-except AK-

HS will sometimes make you loop around if you are even 5 minutes too early, MK you have to park at TTC, so might as well bus. We are staying @ Riviera, so really the only bus we will take is MK bus. Unless the skyliner is down, then we will have to take a bus to HS and EP.

At the end of a long park day, if I have been waiting a long time for a bus and I have to stand-stand I will. I just got spoiled with the less crowded transportation on our last 4 trips. Except at CCV in Sept/Oct. , we took a rideshare to HS twice because the bus had not arrived at 15 until park opening.

I say stack em, pack em, and rack em. And this is coming from someone who has decided to wait it out for the next bus in the past. :earboy2:

The sign says it's a small number of guests on articulated buses only. The articulated buses are the double-length ones that run mostly between Pop or AoA & MK. They have a small dedicated standing area next to the rear door that is used mostly by people with large strollers; that's probably what they're talking about. They may also be able to put a few people in the "accordion" section. So the standees would not be jammed in, or standing over seated guests.

I'm all for shorter bus lines, but it seems every time I am standing on a bus, we have to stop short and I go flying into a stranger's lap. Sure it is a great way to make friends, but I can definitely see the dislike of standing.

Since DME stopped delivering your luggage directly to your room, we started renting a car though and its been quite nice.

But they don’t always do. Before I got my powerchair, I solely used a cane (my parents were VERY AGAINST the idea of letting me get a mobility device for my disability, no matter how much I told them it would benefit me.) between the bus and the scooter rental.

After 20 minutes of standing at the bus stop to go back to the hotel (again, my mom wouldn’t even let me sit in a “loaner wheelchair” from the scooter drop off to the bus stop, which added another 10 minutes of agonizing walking time.), my heart sank every time there was a long line for the bus. My mom just told me to just be thankful that the bus was even coming and if there wasn’t any seats, that I wasn’t even allowed to ask someone to give up theirs, even though my one bad leg was about to collapse on me.

When the bus came and everyone before me got on, all of the seats were taken and no one offered their seat to me and I had to stand holding onto a bar for the ride home.

I would have insisted you take my seat before I had to use an ECV, even now, if I transferred and you needed the seat, I would give it up if needed.

Seriously, I hate to say anything bad about other people's parents, but that really seems wrong to me.

Exactly. I have no problem standing on the buses as I'm used to it since I'm always giving up my seat to anyone you mentioned above. Add in women, especially if they have small children.

And so it begins..... I am not looking forward to standing on the bus. Of all the changes, bus seating, elevators, and skyliner limits were good with me.
I will still be looking forward everything else that should/could return: all the resorts opening, restaurants opening and maybe magic hrs for onsite guests.
I would just wait on another bus and be first in line so you may sit in the front. You do not have to stand. I would do the same on elevators. Wait on another. (Have actually done so when folks are arriving and have lots of luggage etc.) Re: gondolas - the only time I have ridden them (December 2019) I was alone or with one or two other folks.

For me if my options are wait another 15 min standing or stand on the bus to get back I would stand on the bus. My feet are horrible standing in one spot so either way I will be on pain. And hope I get a floor bar to hold onto since I can't do the high ones anymore
