This is weird, I know--glasses on rides?

I don't wear my glasses on any ride that goes upside down or fast. I've lost glasses on rides (granted about 20 years ago). Since then I just don't. Not worth the chance. I actually either put them in my bag or I just tuck them inside my shirt with the ear piece going under my sports bra. Weird I know but it's quick easy and the chance of losing them is minimized.

Do you mind recommending somewhere for cheap prescription goggles? I've never had them before but have been thinking about getting some for an upcoming trip.

I got mine from swimoutlet.com they are the "sunglasses" type meaning they are tinted dark black. They have the regular clear ones as well. There are different brands but I went with the Speedo ones since I know that brand and trust it. They were only $20 and I'm going to buy another pair soon.

Sounds like they were on the top of his head since you say they went off the back of his head? Usually if you wear glasses the way they are designed to be worn they shouldn't come off due to a jerk like that. If that was the case I'd loose my glasses every time someone made an abrupt stop in a car.
Or they weren't fitted well. Sunglasses tend to fly off much easier than prescription glasses, which are sized to you and shaped to your face by the optometrist, when you go in for your fitting.
They were actually on his face and not the top of his head!! My guess is they were not fitted properly. That was the whole reason DH put them back on, he knew that jerky stop was coming but thought with them on his face and not on top of his head they would be fine. Who knows, maybe his head was tipped back a little too, could have been a series of events that lead to the unfortunate demise of his sunglasses!!

I'm going to be in the House of Mouse November 9-13. Every previous visit, I have put my glasses away in a case for most rides. I noticed lately that people have them on in ride photos so I am wondering if there is any sort of policy Disney has on this? Also, if you wear glasses on rides, what type of band/strap are you using to keep them from falling off? Any info/advice is so appreciated!!!!

If you take them off to ride BTMRR and put them in the pouch maybe you will find the sunglasses I left there last Tuesday!

My boys can not really see without their glasses. We have never had an issue on any of the rides. I would be afraid for them to leave the glasses behind accidentally on a ride with our luck.

Really glad to see this question. DBF wears glasses and Ive been wondering about this very thing, primarily with Test Track (once it goes outside).

I've worn contacts of all types for years. I decided enough and now wear my prescription eyeglasses all the time. I figure....love me or leave me. DH loves me so lucky me. Anyway, I can't see anything without them so it would be a waste of money not to wear them on the rides. No strap. I also wear sunglasses that fit over my glasses that have a strap. I'm careful when I put them on. The one time I ordered expensive prescription sunglasses I fell & wound up in the ER. There was a crack in the pavement I didn't see walking in a parking lot. :charac2:

That's a total ::sad trombone:: moment. Deserves WAY more than a violin.

Yeah, I remember the look of horror on a little boy's face when he saw me. I just hid at home till I healed. Now I just have faint scars above my eyebrow and below my nose. :scared: I still have those sunglasses as a reminder to look where I'm going. :tiptoe:

Here's another scenario. For those of you who wear glasses, and prescription sunglasses...what do you do for the transition? I usually carry my sunglasses in a case (in my purse), but it's such a pain to constantly be switching between the two. Anyone wear one of those straps on both pair? Or is that ridiculous?

The only ride I take mine off for is Rock N Rollercoaster because the upside down part makes me worry a bit about them falling off. But really, if your glasses are properly fitted, they aren't going to fly off on the rides. I do not wear a strap or a band, ever.

The funny thing is when I wear sunglasses at night and then it ends up in the ride photo where noone else is wearing them
