I know this is way off topic, but perhaps we have boardies in LA? I have been to New Orleans probably 4 times now. Last time was with my daughter's cheerleading gym. We are going back next season, but the parents want to stay in a different hotel. We stayed in the Marriott right across from the convention center. Great location for leaving my boys in the room and coming back and forth (boys don't like to hang out at the competitions, they preferred to stay in the hotel room and play online computer games. Oh they are 20, 18, and 11, so not like I am leaving small kids alone). Hotel advertised special meals & prices for all the cheerleaders but chicken nuggets took 1.5 hours to receive after ordering (or longer, I think they had staffing issues that night). I was fine with the location, but the parents want something closer to the French Quarters. I know there are some hotels on Canal Street near the McDonalds, around that location would be great.

Issue is there are around 200 girls, a group blocking of at least 150 rooms (some mom/daughters share rooms). I think a hotel with an indoor pool would be great as in January it is too cold to swim outside. Does anyone know of a hotel with moderate pricing that you would recommend. I found one online that may be okay, but I need to investigate more. I want to find a few hotels to pass the name to the gym before they start negotiating with hotels for group rates. Oh, also a practice area... usually a ballroom or large room where the girls can practice in the evenings. Even an outdoor area would work.

The only hotel that fits that bill is the HI in the Quarter. Indoor pools are rare in hotels in the Quarter, CBD or Convention Center, as most guests that come in the winter are not particularly interested in swimming.

The Homewood Suites also has an indoor pool, but it is up near the Superdome, and you would be taking up essentially every room in it, as it only has 188 rooms.

The Hampton Convention Center would otherwise work nicely for you, but the pool is outdoors.

PS: Once the Sugar Bowl crowd leaves, Carnival Season starts (on Jan 6th), for the rest of the month, ballrooms in major hotels are hard to come by on weekends, as they are often booked solid for debutante balls.
