Today is Imbolic,

This is traditionally a time of purification — clean your house! If you have any Christmas greenery lingering, burn it now.

Make your own Brighid’s crosses and hang them up, especially in the kitchen where her influence can bless your food.

Put out food — cake, buttered bread and milk will do — outside your door: Brighid and her cow walk through the neighborhood tonight, and will appreciate your offering.

Leave a silk ribbon on your doorstep for Brighid to bless: It can then be used for healing purposes.

Meditate upon what you would like to see grow in health and strength this year: for yourself, your family, your community, the Earth, and ask for Bride's blessing upon your prayers.

Thanks for posting that betz, I have never heard of this practice, very interesting....and I like the part about lighting the candles, I'll do anything to make Spring come faster! :)

Have a nice Imbolic betz:D

Of course it's appropriate! If folks can post biblical refrecences & Prayers etc... of a Christian nature, than why should this be any different???? It isn't preaching, it's the sharing of a ritual which is important & uplifting to the poster, & to others - Like posting pictures of Christmas decorations which move the one who posts them. Maybe looking at the Spirit & allowing it to enter you & waken a new idea or thought would be a more beneficial use of time than becoming offended for no reason......

Thank You Bets - Blessed Be.....

Have a joyous and wonderful holiday, betz.

I don't feel preached at. I feel enlightened. And I appreciate the effort betz has gone through to teach me something important about her religion. The day I stop learning is the day I die.

Something to think about.

Nicely said there Leota!

May everyone be blessed! :D

Actually, I found this to be a very interesting post from the perspective of Brighid, who in the Catholic Church is called St. Bridget. Her cross is the same, not a traditional cross, but sort of a sideways, squared off one. I am sure if I could ever get my hands on a good book about paganism in Ireland, I would see many more examples of Christian/Catholic traditions that evolved from pagan traditions.

Amazing how much of Christianity has its roots elsewhere in religious traditions. Also amazing how betz remained so calm in the face of Kirk's response. All Chiristians aren't like that betz. Some of us actually enjoy hearing about others' religions and seeing where our traditions came from.

Blessings to you.

Thank-you betz and Dan. I've learned something today. Hasn't been so good a day so far, but you have changed it. Thanks again.
