Saw on the news this morning that it's pretty much a shoe-in that Hillary will be SoS. And with a lot of Clinton era retreads being considered for other positions, this is the change from the old Washington ways Obama was talking about?

Really??? :confused3

I don't think it was ever said that the change would be for the better. It was simply "change" that a lot of voters got duped into hitching their wagons to. We just have to hope it doesn't turn out to be a mess.

Isn't that the truth. :sad2: No one really asked or cared about what the "change" was.

You know what they say: the more things change, the more they stay the same.

OMG, will you people get over it!

He was elected, he is a very intelligent man and he hasn't even taken office yet. Let's do everything we can to set it up for failure. Your minds are all made up, don't confuse it with facts. If all you're going to do is sit and armchair quarterback, not get involved and just wait to say, "I told you so", then my friends if you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Watch carefully, if you must, once he is in office. At least have the common sense to wait until he is in a position to affect change. Good grief!

I saw an interesting interview with the guy who wrote The Tipping Point, etc. He has a new book out. Anyway, he was saying that the 10,000 hour rule still applied - that is, in order to be a great (fill in the blank) you need to have 10,000 hours of practice. He was making the point that putting these experienced people in the new Cabinet was akin to putting people who had their 10,000 hours as politicians in - that it was the long experience they offered that made them such excellent choices for the new posisitions. That made a lot of sense to me. He said there wasn't a chance in our system to learn how to be President for 10,000 hours but the other positions around Obama with so much experience would be a great asset to the country.

LOL you can have a opinion of Obama but unless it all sunshine and flowers everyone else is wrong

Get over it???

Um... no.

Wait for the change you say? I think we can see that not much has changed.

Let's face it, no matter who Obama picks some people will complain. Many people are looking for failure.

Sadly there are folks (many right here on the DIS) who find disdain in anything surrounding Obama and his family.

Not when you're filling your cabinet posts with all the old Washington insiders. So much for change. Guess all we have left is hope!

Even though I cannot take any credit for voting for Bill Clinton, I did end up thinking that it was a fine administration by the end of things. I sort of changed my tune about him. I thought many of his people were pretty good so I don't overly mind seeing some of them appointed to his cabinet. Hillary was the First Lady back then and, while I know she was an extremely active and vocal First Lady, she didn't hold any positions within that administration. She has served well as a Senator, has more experience now, so I kind of think she is a bit of a change from what we ever had. I realize many won't agree with that, but that is how I feel about it personally.

Right. As for Obama, imo, he could have done a lot to show he was serious about change by not making this the second coming of the Clintons (or is that the 3rd or 4th coming? I've lost track). Nope - it's politics as usual, and I'm not the least bit surprised.

No, I'm just pointing out reality. He ran on change. He ran on not doing things the old Washington way. Unless I'm missing something, so far he's not doing it.

Do you really think the people who voted against Bush (in 2000 or especially in 2004) wanted him to succeed? They voted for the other guy because they agreed with their plans/policies. They didn't agree with Bush's so why would they want him (Bush) to succeed?

I guess I look at things differently. I voted for Bush in 2000, against Bush in 2004. Did I want him to win in 2004? Heck no. Did I want his administration to do so poorly that we are in such a mess as we are now just so I could sit back and say "I told you so?" There is no way I wanted that to happen. Of course when Bush won, I wanted him to succeed. I was so bummed out when he won but I got over it in a few days. Just like the other administrations I didn't want to win. I really did hope that, despite not agreeing with much of his platform, that he could still get through it and make something good out of his administration. Did I criticize him? For sure. But I waited until I felt he had actually screwed up something. I did sit back, hopeful, for some time.

I did want Bush to succeed, just as I would have wanted McCain to succeed.

Huh? Did Obama get sworn in and I missed it?

How about waiting until the man is actually in office before you start complaining?

I didn't vote for Bush but I didn't want him to fail. Why would I? His failures impact my family.

NCLB, the economy(my 401K:sad1: ) each of these things has had a direct impact on my son and I.

Who in their right mind is willing to have their family suffer, just to have the right to say I told you so.:confused3

He is not even in office, why not wait until he is in office to see if he does bring change.

I did not vote for Bush but I absolutely wanted him to succeed. What would I have to benefit from wishing he would fail? :confused3 Being proud of my country is way more important to me than feeling justified in gloating that I was right on the interwebz.

Good lord - this is not a football rivalry!!! Where you just want your arch-enemy to lose not matter what.

I voted against Bush in 2004 because I believed Kerry was the better choice for the country....but in NO way did I want Bush to fail.

At our core we are all Americans - and a successful US is something everyone wants. If a republican does well great!! If its a democrat thats great too!

All this complaining about Obama accomplishes nothing - if he had chosen all new people then you would hear - oh he surrounded himself with people with no experience....

A good leader knows where his weaknesses are and gets help from those with specific knowledge. I think it is a good thing:confused3

Amen! Give the man a chance. Give Sen. Clinton a chance too. Open up your minds!
