this is poop!!!!!

I must have bought a different DVC timeshare than some of you. I thought my money guaranteed me a discount on lodging, which I get. Never did I think it would assure me a spot on a behind the scenes tours.

Gosh back in the old days, they offered little or nothing and honestly I understand why they did.

Since DVC started offering more and more perks, I see more and more complaining and whining.

As I have said in other threads about this topic, I am sure DVC did not set the limit on how many and when.

Nothing they have offered would appeal to me enough to change my vacation dates. The way I see it if they offer something that happens while I am going to be there, I will see if I can get a ticket. If not, no big deal, not going to whine about it and I will just go one with my regularly schedule trip and be just as happy as can be. Glad for someone else to go and enjoy it.

Life really is too short for anything else.
I can see both sides. Certainly all we should expect is a room and it's not even always discounted. However, with something like this the question is whey even bother to do it at all. Better to just use it as a sales incentive than tick a bunch of people off for something that's the equivalent of a black Friday special where there are only 3 in the store.

Maybe they offer something like this to see what or if any interest. I just can't get into why it ticks anyone off.

I think they have enough info to judge the interest. It doesn't upset me but rather just causes me to roll my eyes and think, why bother. It's a waste of their time and those who call and far more will be upset, aggravated or at least hold a negative opinion than will be happy with it. If they're going to do something like this at least do it with sufficient volume to meet the interest of those who could go or don't do it at all. I don't want my dollars that fund MS to go towards this type of circus.

I wonder if this tour is so popular because it's free or because so many are truly interested in the behind the scenes information and riding without standing in the line or getting a FP+ for it?

I did the tour in DL and admit I did it because it was free plus I didn't have to hustle for a fastpass to ride.

But, similarly from a marketing perspective, when they market DVC so heavily as about being able to share the magic with family and friends and etc. etc., if they said "name not on deed? NOPE!" it would not be a good signal either.

just tried calling to get the soarin' for out stay in 2 months

for the only wed were there

there already booked--its opened to just 20 people whoopie!!!

what a let down--this is the first time I couldnt get what we wanted

but gee its only open to 20 people--Im sure glad were not going at a busy time

If this is the "first time I couldn't get what we wanted" then your track record is better than most.

thats why I said what I did

we paid thousands to buy into it

there thousands of members disney has something really interesting

and limits it to 20 people once a week

ok makes perfect sense to me!!!!

I'm disappointed I haven't secured it - yet - too but will keep plugging away.

At least you didn't spend an hour on hold like some of us did last week when the initial booking opened for the tours only to find out you were beat to the punch by someone who only held for 30 mintues. It was VERY frustrating to finally get thru and to find out they were only offering 20 slots a week. Borderline stupid IMO.

It was very frustrating!

Think it odd that the CMs I spoke to all said:

a DVC stay wasn't required to book it

&

That the # of reservations weren't limited to immediate family, just the way that APs are set up.

Yes, it's lovely to bring along friends & family, but the actual members who have reservations in place onsite should get an advantage as to booking this sort of perk IMO. I respect other's thoughts on it BTW, as it could be awkward to not include all in your party, although children are excluded.:scratchin

No sour grapes on my part if it would truly be a luck of the draw thing for these sorts of perks. I'd be first in line for a 'paid' tour, designed just for members of the same ilk. Maybe the demand for the freebie will encourage them to consider these sorts of members-only tours as a perk that more could partake.:wizard:
