This is OT, but I am Desperate! HELP!

So wouldn't ya know it, I have a stinky basement! It started on Friday, thought I needed to change the litter box, so I did it Saturday. It still smelled, so perhaps my towels from the YMCA that were in the laundry had mildewed - threw them in the washer. It still smelled (I suddenly feel like Eric Carle), so I checked around the basement to see if the cat peed anywhere, a plastic box of christmas lights was wet on the bottom - cleaned it up and bleached the floor. It still smelled, so DH checked the sump pump and the battery but they are both fine. AND IT STILL SMELLS! Our plumber friend is coming over tomorrow!
It is nasty! I *think* it's sewer related.

MUCH good luck to you. I still have a lingering scent. I have no idea what or where it is, but it is much, much better. I don't know to describe it. It's like it's fine, no smell and then I get this light whiff and then it goes away. It's weird, but much improved. The looking and trying to figure it out is so fustrating. I emptied every drawer, cabinet, nook and cranny, under the fridge, in the fridge, under the stove in the stove. Never found it. I hope you find your smell!

OdorXit is the best product on the market for eliminating odors from Dead Animals or any other source. Unfortunately, it is only available online for purchase, but well worth the money. The small bottle goes a long way.

I had a mouse die inside my favorite suitcase I use for traveling and this product was the only thing that saved me from having to throw away my suitcase. I had another mouse die in my house last October while I was on vacation and I sprayed the spot where he died and it eliminated the odor immediately.

We had an animal die in our fireplace (crawled in through the chimney, which had a protective grate cover that this animal managed to pry off).

My cat is the one who alerted us to the problem!! She kept going over to the fireplace (which had a darkened glass sliding door, so you couldn't easily see into it). She'd stand there, pace back and forth, stare into the glass, and meow at us. We thought she was a little crazy until we started to smell it... then we realized kitty was on to something!

Animals are great at hunting out the source of strange smells... maybe a neighbor has a dog you can borrow to try and sniff it out? Who knows!
