This is my town...

Silver Creek

It is a small village- that is somewhat run down, many of the houses really need updating. But it's a safe place to live. Most of the houses are from the 1800's, including my own.

We have 1 stop light in town. Along w/ a traditional, old-fashioned town sqaure, complete w/ a white gazebo and a large white church behind it. It's very post-card looking.

We have one small grocery store, not a large chain one. We do have like 5 churches. We have a Rite Aid, 2 pizzeria's, no gas stations, and the school sites on the outskirts of the village. If you leave the village by about 5 miles you'll find the NYS Thruway and the Seneca Nation Indian Reservation.

We are surrounded by a lot of farm land, mainly grapes.

One of the "sweetest" things about our village- we have Petri Cookie Factory right in town. It's just a small factory (on the scale of factories(. However, you can almost always smell cookies baking in the air. There is nothing like going outside and smelling cookies baking.

I grew up in Woodmere, near Rockville Centre. We used to eat at Tiako (spelling) a lot. Great sushi, not that everybody is into sushi. I also used to go see the movies and hang out at the diner afterwards there.

Now I live in Cave Creek, AZ near Phoenix. I am technically in North Phoenix with a Cave Creek mailing address and Cave Creek schools. Cave Creek is a neat town - a lot of "horse" people and saloons. It is kind of a throw back (at least for now) to old Arizona. We have even seen people pick up take out on their horses.

I live in the suburbia part, but we are surrounded by desert. Lots of wild life here - coyotes, rabbits, gambils quail, snakes, javelinas, numerous birds, an occasional mountain lion and bobcats.

I worked at Woodmere Academy during the summers growing up. It really is a small world. I also have several friends in Woodmere and Hewlett.

Rockville Centre

Small town in the suburbs of NYC on the south shore of Long Island.
Population about 22,000. Towns on Long Island tend to run into one another.
Lots to do for the kids. Sports is very big in this town. Soccer, lacrosse basketball and baseball. Our school is not so great for football. Our older teens often hop on the LIRR and go into the city to do things.

Lots of commuters go to the city for their jobs. Traffic is horrible. A little of everything as far as religion and ethnicity. Great restaurants, movie theaters, and fun boutiques. Mall about 5 miles away. Great place to live but expensive.

Fun topic!

I'm one of those towns away from you, so I'm cheating and coping some of your description. I hope you don't mind. :)

I'm in Levittown. Built in 1947 for the post war population.
Tiny cape cod houses with no basement & garages.

So true, if anyone sends the night or visits someone for supper it will be in the paper.

After sleeping on it I think I probably did have the spelling wrong - it should "sen". I am remembering rewriting/correcting envelopes more than once - I hope it isn't the power of suggestion though - lol.

They're are 5 elementary schools with about 200 kids. Our high school graduating class has about 225. Not too big or small. Summer activities revolve around the beach.

My Grandfather lives in Rockville Centre! I went there every year with my family growing up and last summer was my first time back with my husband and children. We had such a nice time! Rockville Centre is such a beautiful town! We loved taking walks around the neighborhood. The Methodist church down street is just beautiful! It was so fun walking to the deli and getting fresh bagals, rolls and subs! I loved hearing my parents stories about how "those houses used to be a elmentary school". Here they'll tear your house down to build a new school! Up there they'll tear down a school and build houses! That would be a awesome town to live in.

It was Johnsen, her parents still live in the same house. MIL told me that she had gone through cancer awhile ago, but was okay. She also told me that she Lives in a Denver subburb. She graduated in 1972 with DH brother.

It was nice that our little town was in your memories.

Lancaster, NY:)

I just moved into this town in December, but already, I love it.

We are close to everything here, yet our little subdivision feels semi-rural right now - development is insane, so I'm sure that will change eventually.

No matter what chain restaurant, store, whatever you need - it's right nearby. I like that kind of convenience.:)

Could you please PM me her parent's address? I think it is time I tried to get back in touch - I think this was fate that i found this thread.

Thanks

Did you live around RVC long? I still love it here, just wish it wasn't so expensive.

When I was born for the first year and a half we lived with my grandparents in Garden City, then moved out to Suffolk.

I'm now on the North Shore, about 10 minutes away from the Nassau border.

I'm in nassau alot though, lots of friends live there.
