You people crack me up!

I did not mean to start a debate over marketing stategies! :confused3

I personally love all the theme parks and water parks and have been to every one that is in central Florida. :thumbsup2

It is always the innocent people who start the most heated threads. :rotfl2:

You really can't spend a whole week at Universal...

Not true. I spent a week on the E.T. ride one day at Universal. :rotfl2: The ride broke down just as our "bikes" left the loading area and went up in the air so the ride operators weren't able to let us off. The ride operators stood below us and repeatedly told us to stay seated. Meanwhile, the people behind us were being escorted off the ride. In reality it took about two hours of the ride not moving for a long time, then suddenly starting and then just as quickly, abruptly stopping before we escaped. I like the E.T. ride but it totally inhales through a straw when there is no soundtrack and you are getting whiplash every few minutes.

It is funny! :rotfl2: I think they have lost all their senses! lol, do they really think they can sway Disney fans or even just any kid by having a clearly "magic"-deprived young girl as the spokesperson? And better yet...in front of the Hulk ride! If they wanted to be like that; like how they are, they should have just put a teen boy in there! :rotfl2:

Obviously Disney doesn't need to publically attack Universal like that...Universal is just desperate and that is funny! :rotfl:

Its not funny at all. I think Universal is trying to compete w/ Disney. It is insulting Disney as saying Universal is better than WDW. But i know WDW is way better than any other theme park out there.

I can just imagine Wright and Iger having a cat fight over it. *giggles like a five year old*

I think the ad is a great way to promote Disney!
It has obviously offended some Disney lovers who may have planned trips to Universal Studios that have now cancelled them.

There is a thread about this very commercial on the CB. :)
It's basically saying that if you don't want any magic, don't go to WDW and if you want miles of concrete and coasters to make you throw up, come here. :rotfl:

I love this commerical and I am Disney Biggest fan! It is so funny I lose it every time I see it!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ok - my turn. I like the commerical - it is true when little girls get over the princess stuff they want action. We went to Universal Studios last year - due to a nice AP price posted on the DIS. The rides were great - I am a coaster girl. As for service, nothing compares to Disney. Universal is not Disney - but I went for my coasters and of course other rides.

Give it a try. I will be there tomorrow baby - chilling by the pool at the Hard Rock Hotel then catching my coasters. :thumbsup2

As much as I love Disney (I wouldn't have bought DVC if I didn't want to
vacation there all the time), I have a part of me that also likes much of
what Universal has to offer, too.

For as much as I hated the Poseidon's Fury show (back in its original version,
since I refused to see it ever again), there's a Spiderman, a Mummy,
the Men in Black, the coasters and The Cat in the Hat. Those are some
of the best attractions I've seen in any park, and I can appreciate them.

While Disney wants to squirt water on you most of the time, Universal wants
to dump buckets of it over your head. Great in this weather, not so great
in cooler temps. :)

And Dis, I haven't seen Hard Rock Hotel, but I heard it's beautiful. I had
the opportunity to stay at Portofino Bay (friend with Universal AP had a
great discount) for two nights a couple of years ago, right when they
were having soft-openings on the Mummy. I must say that I found the
accommodations to be as plush if not more so than any of the deluxe
resorts I've stayed at Disney. I haven't stayed at the Grand Floridian,
but I think it would rate up there with it. The front of the line access with
the resort card from Portofino rocked my socks, too.

Wow, I'm sorry I went off on a tangent, but I am willing to venture off
property every few years to go to Universal. :)

And yes, I thought the kid in the commercial was quite snarky. :happytv:

I have not seen this commercial -- what station has it aired on?

I just saw the funniest commercial on TV! :happytv:

It starts out with a little girl standing in front of The Hulk rollercoaster at Universal Studios in Orlando. She has her arms crossed and an attitude. She says

"If I have to hug one more princess on this vacation I am going to hurl!"

The commercial then goes on to show her on the rides at Universal.

Well my whole family just looked at me and said yes mom there is another park around here! I told them I would gladly drop them off there on my way to WDW! Family: you can't kill them so you have to love them! :rotfl2:

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im a universal studios fan bc i love the jurassic park and return of the mummy ride ( in california ), but commercials that make fun of competition means dont go to that place

Well, OF COURSE, they are competing with Disney!!! :confused3 WDW is Universal's major competitor....

I just have 1 question for those saying that the commercial offends them? Does Shrek offend you too?

i think it's funny just cause Universal is kicking themselves in the head.. i never have nor hope never to go to Universal and not because of the commercial.. Universal never went through what Disney did.. you don't see a huge statue of the founder of Universal holding hands with Shrek in front of the Hulk roller coaster.. in my opinion Disney just has that sort of magic that draws me in every time i think about it, and universal doesn't have that.. another thing with Universal is that their rides are either black or white.. what i mean by that is they each ride only really appeals to one certain age group.. the Hulk obviously would not draw in a three year old just like the Nickelodeon toon show does not appeal to a teenager or 30 year old who is going to the park by his/her self.. at Disney, the rides never get old and mostly appeal to all age groups.. for instance my four year old cousin has always wanted to go on the Tower or Terror (one of the biggest rides in WDW) she has gone down to WDW three times and each time she asks her parents (but there is always a reason that she couldn't ride, like that they had to be at the Beauty and the Beast show before they're seats were given away).. the only thing that really only appeal to little kids in Disney is the parts they are adding to MGM that feature Playhouse Disney Characters.. but i mean when i went even my Grandmother (i think she would prefer i didn't put her age) got into the whole character meeting thing, she had gotten all 11 of us bright orange tee shirts with the cinderella castle on the back saying we are family, and one of the biggest thing my grandmother liked about disney was getting her shirt signed by any character she could find

plus i think that Shrek is one of the most ovverated movies (along with high school musical.. sorry to all you hsm fans out there).. i mean most of the movie is all flatulence which in my opinion is a cheap way to get a laugh (which is also why i think Stitch's Great Mistake.. oh i mean Escape is so unpopular.. sorry to all you stitch fans).. and i mean the storyline is very basic.. boy likes girl, girl likes boy, girl has to get married, boy rescues her from evil husband.. just throw in an annoying donkey and thats Shrek for ya
It's basically Romeo and Julliet but they have green skin and like 50 different people in Shrek don't die.. except that one short king guy whose name escapes me (I also think that HSM is just like Romeo and Julliet except no one dies) and anyway Disney is and probably always will be more popular that Universal and that is just a fact i'm sorry but it's true..

p.s. sorry if this is a double post i'm new to this whole dis thing..

To all the people who are getting offended by this commercial: lighten up! I lke Disney, but I'll still make jokes about it. It's not that I spontanously hate and then like it again, it's that I figure that my life will be boring if I can't laugh at myself (or the things I like.)
