Don't get me wrong I am so happy to be able to get anything last minute, but it's a 4 night trip and we switch after 2 nights.

2 nights AKV/ 2 nights SSR leaving next Tues. morning arriving at 9am. Tried waitlisting for all 4 nights at AKV but it's not looking good.

DD is 20 and swears she will do all the packing up especially for my special needs son. She is soo happy to be able to go with us on a break between the end of semester and summer classes. It's just she and I (my birthday) and my DS. She files into Chicago at 10pm on Monday from Durango, Co.

We will have a rental car.

I am soooo tired thinking of this trip already, am I being a big baby??

Any tips would be greatly appreciated:)

Things will work out great and you will have a wonderful time! Maybe consider packing in such a way that you have a suitcase for the 1st two days and a suitcase for the 2nd two days. Then you wouldn't have to totally unpack and re-pack.

I have done that before--packed one bag for our first night (we arrived late) and then the rest in the other suitcase for the rest of the trip. We only had to bring up the one bag. I even packed extra toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. that I got at our local dollar store and left them after that one night. It cost a little more, but the next morning, I didn't have to worry about things.

Enjoy your trip!!!!

I don't think it will be bad, especially with your DD as such a willing helper!

Have a great time, enjoy yourselves. Happy Birthday! Enjoy the special ambience of both resorts!

Since you are less than 7 days away, there are no more waitlists. You have to call and hope to get lucky by catching a last minute cancellation.

Keep calling - even a couple of times a day. You might get those last two nights. If not, ask again at check in. You just never know.

But if you do end up moving, it won't be so bad. You have help :) and you have a car. :)

Good luck!

Good ideas! I will definately do some of the packing tips. Annd I am sorry we are checking in the next Tues. but I had no idea I could keep calling after the 7 days and ask at check in.

Really thank you so much, we have been with DVC only a year and still learning!!

When a waitlist didn't come through one time, the cast member I spoke with told me to call 7 days ahead to check....lo and behold I was able to get the room I had waitlisted for. So there is hope. Still, you will have a great time regardless, so go and enjoy.

Maybe a big one is just relax and enjoy the trip! If your all tense and jacked up about it, it won't be a good trip. Not worth much much, but thats my thoughts.
:cool1::woohoo:

Not sure why you're all tense about it. Sounds like a great trip to me.

I've heard before on these boards that people have asked at check-in and there was availability so that's another option as well!!

The day you make your resorts switch, you can have bell services pickup your luggage that morning and transport it over to SSR for you. That may save you some work even though you have a car...

Also, you may want to take a ride over to SSR early that day and check in. If by chance the room is ready at that time, then you could move right into it. If it is not ready, then you can plan you day and head to one of the parks so as not to lose vacationing time.

Good luck to you! :)

Great advice, always learning something on here. I think the reason I got worked up about it that some say they would never do a swtich at all especially for 4 nights, rooms not being ready till after 6, and we do have some extra stuff to pack up for my son and then set back up.

But, I think I will go over early while DD is packing up love that idea, at least we will be checked in and we planned Universal for the day and then pool if the room isn't ready.

I will be sooo happy to see my daughter and watch her with my son in the parks all will be fine I'm sure!! Now just not to feel guilty about DH and other DS not comming.;)

DS#2 and I went in Jan for 3 nights and we had to switch rooms all three nights. I did not mind it all. Since it was a short trip, e did not have much. I would just have the suitcase paked at night before I went to bed. In the morning I just threw our toiletries and pj's in a bag and then into the suitcase. Would give bell services our luggage and then go to the parks and call int he afternoon for our new room assignment. It was super easy and while not ideal, having to switch rooms would not deter me from any trip in the future.

You will have a great time!!!
