I mean if you're looking for free I don't think you should be so picky:confused3

I'm looking for an umbrella stroller with the following specifications.

1. Sturdy umbrella stroller for a boy
2. Should have sunshade/canopy
3. Should have storage basket underneath
4. Should have been purchased in UK(Great Britain) or anywhere in Europe.
5. Like to have a rain cover, if possible

My son's stroller got stolen last weekend in Bushkill Falls, and I'm looking for
a replacement.

If anyone out there has a stroller like this, please write to me. It would be a
great help if you could kindly include a photo of the stroller when you respond.

I can travel upto 10 miles from my house to pick this up.

Thanks in advance.

:lmao:

I'd reply with "Hey, I have one that meets your needs exactly! Oh, wait, I bought it in Canada. Never mind." :rotfl:

Freecycle drives me crazy lately. :headache: The wants are turning into very greedy people and at least I am not alone in my thinking. :headache:

WHAT?!!! That's ridiculous, especially the bolded part. Who the heck buys a stroller in Europe, specifically the UK, to use it here?? Uh, yeah, you want a Maclaren, we get it.

Get yo' cheap butt to Walmart and buy another stroller. Cripes. :headache:

People are ridiculous.

Wow! I guess I'm pretty lucky that our Freecycle moderators keep a pretty good handle on things like this. They are fairly strict about postings. . .post a want then post a have, no long stories about why, etc.

I've seen people asking for items lately such as Playstation Games and particular brands of baby gear. Yeesh. Go to Craig's List...if you're that picky, you need to pay SOMETHING!

Also I have written to people lately offering something they were asking for (I may happen to have it around but not have posted yet or haven't thought about it)...in each case, the item is still here! One woman got it as a gift...I understand that. One said I was too far away (in the next county over!) One wrote to me numerous times, called on the wrong day, and then hasn't gotten back to me to look at the item. In each case I was trying to be nice and offer something that I hadn't originally planned to give away but thought they might need it more than I do.

That's funny.

On the one hand I can see not wanting people to respond with one she won't want, but if you are that specific you really should go buy something. Some people actually need things for free, and if you can be that picky (at least with a stroller) you aren't in that much need.

We have requests for cars, working laptops, etc. on ours. Drives me batty.

we always get ppl that want cars, due to the economy of course..well hello you are not the only one suffering, others are going without a lot of stuff to..it just bugs me to read what some ppl have the nerve to ask for, it's freecycle be grateful someone is giving you something for free

that is what I see on mine too!!!:confused3 If someone had the money to just give away that type of item, they would not be on freecycle to begin with :lmao:

I don't use free cycle too much anymore. Some people are just rude when you tell them the item has already been taken, or ask a million questions about whatever you are offering. Hello... it's free! If you decide you don't want it pass it on to someone else.
I have actually given away a car on free cycle a few years ago. It was about 15 years old and hadn't been driven in years. Had a dead battery and needed some repairs that would probably cost close to what it was worth. Someone was there within hours to get it.

They don't want a Maclaren. You can purchase those in the US. This lady is looking for a Jane or something equally expensive.

I'd email her a picture of the crappiest stroller picture I could find on google. I'm evil like that

Maybe something like this

Our Freecycle moderators are great. I don't think they would allow such a "request" in our group.
I have to agree I am picky when it comes to giving my things to people.
If I don't like the vibe I get from them, I'll keep the item or donate it elsewhere.

Sounds like the needs board at the church I used to go to. People would ask for the darndest things that they "needed". It used to just drive me crazy. I guess the old line no longer applies, "Beggars can't be choosers".

When dh and I were first married and didn't have anything, we were pretty happy to get whatever people were willing to get rid of. Yes, I had a couch in colors I hated, chairs that were worn and didn't match the couch, a very small dining set, hideous curtains, the hugest cork lamp in the history of man and a ton of other hand me down stuff that was neither my style or taste. I lived with it and as I could afford things that I liked, I purchased them. We joke that we've been married almost 19 years and still have some hand me down stuff, but finally it's only the stuff people gave us that we like.

And this is why I am no longer a member of our Freecycle community! It became the begging ground for name-brand things rather than the keeping-it-out-of-the-landfill it was intended to be originally. The greed astounded me along with the total ingratitude of people if you offered things.

Example: We replaced our wood fence with a block wall fence. The wood fence was less than 5 years old and still in good condition so we offered all the panels on Freecycle but kept the gate hardware for the new gate we installed. The guy that picked it up got snotty with my husband when he saw the hardware was missing. I believe the exact comment was... "How am I supposed to install the gate without the metal pieces, dude" Lovely.

I hope the Freecycle requester gets some totally ghetto stroller pictures sent to her!

My gripe is that people almost never say thank you. I've given away 4 things in the last week: 2 large bags of really nice girl clothes in great condition, 3 toddler ride on toys, a Bumbo seat that was never used, and a stroller. I only received a thank you from one person. Would it kill these people to just send a 2 second email that says "thanks". Luckily we are very fortunate and I've never been on the receiving end of freecycle but if anyone gives me something, I always say thank you. I just don't get it!

Here are the rules of my area's Freecycle and they STICK to them!:

This is an automatic email containing a file from the Group
One way to truly benefit of the positive energy of this group,
would be to allow your FIRST POST to Freecycle ATL be that of an OFFER.
It truly helps to keep the cycle of recycling moving as well as keeping with the spirit of Freecycle (tm)!

Please keep posts *short and brief* - no long sob stories -
posting of phone numbers and complete address is not advised.
Only give your number/address out to the person you've chosen for your item(s)

OFFERs of anything *material* that is legal and appropriate for all
ages are fine and appreciated.

PLEASE NOTE:

While Freecycle.org is about community, unfortunately it is not set up as a charitable organization assisting those in "need".

If you are in a situation where you need "immediate" help/assistance, please contact your local Salvation Army, United Way, as this group is an electronic recycling forum set up to to allow members to post their items no longer wanted or needed.
[items that could perhaps be saved from our Landfills]

WANTED POSTS: ONE A WEEK PER MEMBER (One "WANTED" post in a 7 day period)

PLEASE KEEP POSTS SIMPLE, state the facts please.
[long explanations of *why* a WANTED is needed is not necessary]

In the body, just a description of the item is all that is needed.
No personal information (single mom, disabled, etc) or reason for the WANTED is to be included.
The reason for WANTED posts are to remind members of something they may have out in their sheds, garages or closets and is unwanted by them. Freecycle ™ is not nor was it ever intended to be a charity or wish organization

WANTEDs for *material* items that are legal, appropriate for all ages,
and NOT extravagant are fine.

Don't repost the SAME WANTED messages more than once a month.

Extravagant items:

If people want to offer them, that's fine. Don't ask for them.

PLEASE use WANTED messages sparingly.
Don't repost the SAME WANTED messages more than once a month.

Items received are NOT for reselling.

When we communicate with our members, and interact with our transactions
May we remember this acronym: S.P.A.R.K.!

Safety Politeness Always Respectful and Kind!

When you arrange to pick up an item from another Freecycle member, it is basic good manners to accommodate them as much as possible in terms of scheduling, and then be punctual; they are, after all, giving you something you requested, and asking nothing in return except that you will show up when you say you will.
(Leaving someone hanging is never a nice thing.)
and will most often guarantee you on that member's personal no show list

Also, unless the giver tells you otherwise, assume that they would like you to come by as soon as you can to take away the item;
no more than three days after the offer is made is usual.

Please refer back to this when needed.

You are responsible for familiarizing yourself with the list guidelines.
They differ from some other affiliates of The Freecycle(TM) Network.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding the guidelines, please contact us at freecycle-atl@mods.freecycle.org

Sincerely,
The Moderators of the Atlanta affiliate of Freecycle(TM) Network

Now, on to the board!!

:lmao: I am laughing so hard my husband had to ask what in the world was happening. :lmao:

My favorite was when a freecycler asked for money. There were so many responses, almost instantly. I mean the whole point is to save something that is headed to the garbage. Who has money they plan on tossing into a landfill? Yes I have seen car requests, new crib requests, new car seat requests...
