This caught my eye today at Regions bank.

I very rarely put money into my checking account in person at the bank, almost always just put it into the night deposit, but today I got off work early and went through the drive-thru. As I was sitting there I noticed that now at my bank, Regions, as long as you put your deposit in by 4 p.m. it will be credited for that day. It has always been 2 p.m. in the past. I wonder if this is the same at all banks now? Anyone know?

Mine changed too! I was at Regions and asked the lady at the window when it changed, she said it's been that way for some time. Wish I would have known it changed back to 4:00. No more 2 trips to town. I can wait till I pick up the kids now!!!

I wonder if it is just Regions, or if it is the goverment. If so, then it will be like that at all the banks.

and that's why i love my credit union. I can put a check into any ATM, and it's available immediatly. Day or night, weekends, holidays. Makes it so much easier.

Mine changed too. My bank is a regional bank, Michigan based Chemical Bank.

I work at a bank and we don't have a cut off. As long as your deposit is in by closing (5pm M-Th 6pm F) it posts same day. The previous bank I worked at was 4pm. I do not believe it's a government "rule".

At Wachovia and Fifth Third, it is at least 7 p.m. (may be later) than that if you depost it at an ATM. Both banks also credit $100 of your deposit instantly.

Another vote for loving my credit union. Once I put the money in there, it's available.

I bank with Bank of America (we travel a LOT and need to have banking branches near us) - if I Do an ATM deposit by 8 p.m. it's available same day. If i go inside and see a teller I can ask for instant availability and only once in 4 years have they not done it because it was a large check.

I actually love BoA for checking/savings - I would never (NEVER!) have a credit card through them though.

They haven't allowed that around here in a long time. Too many people scamming at the ATMs.
