This can't be true - Kids at Separate Table

Maybe the kids were Chinese gymnasts and just looked young. Maybe they were all 16 !! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This is completely outrageous. Where I go, my child goes - and stays with me the entire time!

i agree that the management of the restaurant should never have allowed that to happen. if my dinner was ruined due to a bunch of rambunctious kids, i would have either walked out or expected some compensation.

on our last cruise my 12 y.o. dd met some great kids at the kids club and all the parents allowed them to dress up and have dinner alone in the main dining room. they thought it was AWESOME! the whole dressing up and ordering like adults really made them feel special and responsible. we peeked in on them and they really behaved wonderfully and my dd still talks about it months later.

then again i would trust my 8 y.o. to do the same.. unfortunately you can't trust the rest of the world :(

on our next trip to the world dd and her friend would like to have dinner in epcot by themselves and knowing they would act properly i have no problem with it.

As a parent of two young boys I would never think of dining in the same restaurant but not at the same table. Those parents should be ashamed of themselves. My kids misbehave we leave and take the food with us. If I feel like I wouldn't want to sit next to myself then I shouldn't expect others too. Shame on the restaurant managment.

This is a restaurant mgmt issue. We eat out a lot with our kids (every weekend) and at Disney. I have never seen someone "drop" thier kids off...or sit in another dinning room leaving toddlers alone.

I've never heard of such a thing.

Unfortunately, they are the most fertile!

Have you seen the movie, "Idiocracy"? It basically documents just this phenomenon. Truly terrifying!!!

So, did the hostess allow the parents to drop the kids or was a manager called in to make that decision? I get that the rude adults were badgering the hostess, but she should never have made that decision. If there was an issue with the guests, the manager should have been the one making that call.

Forgive me if I misread that. I was just getting the hostess involvement in the poor decision.

Unfortunately I have seen similar behavior with the parents sitting at the same table.

People obviously think - It's Disney World - my kids can do whatever they like. I am a lot more laid back at WDW with kid's behavior, but you know, when I am spending money at the nicer places and there are kids crawling on the floor, standing on chairs, and running around unchecked, it ticks me off. There just isn't much you can do about it.

These are the parents who will have problem kids later on, mark my word, and it is not as cute when they are teenagers. And they'll wonder how it happened - sad but true.

We've had occasions to eat at separate tables from our kids...they think it is fun to have a table to themselves. The difference though is that our table is RIGHT NEXT TO THEM! Of course, I think this has happened twice, in a near empty restaurant. I can't imagine not having them in sight, in earshot, and within touching distance at a restaurant! Unbelievable! I too think I would have tried to embarrass the parents, pointing out that my brood of 4 actually eats WITH US instead of with strangers. Not that people like that would probably be embarrassed...just think of how they are in every day life, they are probably vile. I agree with another poster. I feel terrible for those kids, having to grow up with parents like that, I'm sure they'll turn out to be joyful teens and really productive adults

I would laugh with you, if this whole gymnastics fiasco wasn't so ludicrous. :sad2:

I agree! It is the manager's responsibility to assure everyone has a pleasant dining experience. While you have to wonder why the parents would even want to eat w/o their kids, the parents weren't being paid for the experience. Citrico's was, & the manager should be the one to be made embarrassed. IME, people who behave like the parents think they're entitled to do exactly as they want forget everybody else, & would have probably given the patrons the same treatment the manager received rather than get embarrassed. Hopefully, something will be learned from this & it won't happen again.
