Maybe its just me, but, being a DVC member, I truly enjoy one perk, and thats the opportunity to purchase DVC member only pins. We love it. WELL, recently, and even now, Disneystore.com has a DVC MEMBERS ONLY pin for sale to ANYONE and EVERYONE. This bugs me. I have to show a member ID to get this pin at the world, yet, anyone can order it from disneystore.com? How about making DVC and AP pins available to members on the websites? To a collector, such as me, this de-values the pin. Here is the pin on the website:

I am curious to others thoughts on this.

Just copied the description from disneypins.com about this DVC pin:

This open edition pin will be available exclusively to Disney Vacation Club members and features Mickey and Minnie looking at the many icons of Disney Parks. The spinner includes Cinderella Castle from Magic Kingdom® Park, Spaceship Earth from Epcot®, Sorcerer Hat from Disney's Hollywood Studios™, Tree of Life from Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, A Disney Cruise Line® Ship, Grizzly Peak from Disney California Adventure® Park and Sleeping Beauty Castle from Disneyland® Park.

To purchase this pin, Members must present a valid membership ID card and request the pin at the merchandise location's counter. Pins are available while supplies last.

See? You need an ID at the parks.

I bought one of these at the Merry Mixer. Amazing how DVC can give me a Rice Krispie treat (that I give to my DS) and I spend almost $70 on pins! :confused3

After the recent issues we have had latley this is small potatoes. I used to be such a big fan of DVC. Now I am not so much. It seems the $$$$$$ is what drives them. Not the hearts of Disney Fans.

if they required a membership number or something, I would love this. It really bugs me that I can't get all of the dvc or AP pins that they have at the parks because of the times of year I can make it down there. If I could somehow provide this info on disneyshopping that'd be great.

BUT the fact that you can just buy it, really bugs me because as a collector, I like feeling that the dvc pins are special b/c everyone can't just go and buy it.

Ditto!! What's the point in making these pins exclusive if they are going to sell them on the website to anyone. Membership is supposed to have its priviledges. :sad2:

I have tons of pins but rarely bother with the DVC ones :confused3design rarely appeals to me, this one is sorta cute! thanx OP for posting.

would like to see more in way of collector pin sets/lithos, etc. restricted to DVC members, not to be confused w/D23 stuff

Interestingly enough...i found the rice krispie treats in the Studios and they were $3.99 each... The misses-mouse is a great cook but what she makes is expensive!!!! It was a nice party, our first...

I have purchased DVC and Annual pass pins over the phone at World of Disney, New York. But, prior to the completion of the sale, I had to fax front and back copies of my Annual Pass and my DVC Membership cards. So they do try to enforce the sale of the special pins to eligible persons.

yeah I saw that, and ordered one earlier this month..thought maybe it would ask for my member number, but it didn't...it's a really cute pin - I already received it!

I know what you mean about all the hoops you have to jump through at the park. ( If they are available while you are there). I just got one on line.:)

It's a really cute pin. Doesn't really bother me they are selling it online - but I only buy pins because I like them; I don't see myself selling them years later and making a profit. Interesting enough, I added one to my cart along with a D23 pin...it didn't ask me for my DVC member #, but it did ask me for my D23 # (which I don't have - I was just curious.)

I guess my point is if they can sell these on disneystore.com then sell then to members on dvc site and ap to ap holders on their site. Wod NYC was great for pins. And it's by no means consuming me just throwing it out there

I suggest writing DVC member services and ask.

I agree why make it for DVC, if it's available to all.

I figure they made too many, and yet again money talks.

We've had problems getting the pins as well. right now we're trying to get 2 of the AP pins from last year. Can't even buy them online now.
However, other than pin sellers, i can't imagine that many people that would be interested in DVC pins unless they were members. So, i'd hope the inventory would be there for members. I do agree that going through hoops to get them at the parks, then a "free ticket" online seems a bit odd.

I am trying to get a DVC and AP pin from 2010 and it's impossible to find anywhere. It is making me crazy.

I contacted Disney to ask about why they are selling a DVC pin without the need to prove DVC ownership when they do not allow you to purchase AP pins anywhere other than the parks...

Their response was "Sorry, you are currently only able to purchase Annual Passholder pins inside the Disney Parks"

it was like they didn't even read the rest of my email... I wasn't even complaining really, just trying to figure out the logic. Oh well...

We did find the pins we needed on ebay once in a while, but not willing to spend outrageous prices for them...
We make it to Disney on the average twice per year, and was hoping that there would have been left over pins from the past season... boy was i wrong. :confused3
It'll work out one way or the other.:thumbsup2

Just went to the site this morning after reading the post...to find its listed as SOLD OUT (1-13-11 at 8 a.m. EST). Nice pin...but I agree that owners should be the ones allowed to purchase with owner's contract number. With all the owners now in the DVC family....there are plenty who would purchase such an exclusive pin.
