Third Time's a Charm PTR - May 2012 - I should give up on planning trips.

Popping in to say "hi"!

Loving your trip report, as usual. I don't know how you find the time to post while you are on vacation. Heck, I can't even find the time to post after vacation. :rotfl:

Ok, don't hate (and don't tell Fran), but I had to look up Debbie Reynolds on wikipedia. Have a wonderful time at her concert! And I'm so glad that Fran is feeling well enough to travel. :)

You two are young and able. We spend hours each day back in the room where she is asleep and I feel guilty running about the hotel by myself, that's when I post and catch up on the computer. Arline and I went to Walmart for a couple hours today before dinner and Fran was still asleep after I posted the update. Now after dinner, she is sound asleep and I am still wide awake, but in a food coma. I think I'll take a bath and go to bed.

Oh and I had no idea who Debbie Reynolds was either, I just didn't admit it. She told me that she was the engenue (sp?) in Singing in the Rain and I pretended I knew what that meant so that she didn't call me an ignorant idiot. I'm assuming that she was the beautiful young thing that Gene Kelley starred with, but there might have been two women in that film.

Life is a balancing act, and I'm just glad that she won't ever read the DIS so I can be real here!

On the family friendly Dis, talking about how LARGE a Margharita is about as safe as it gets. :confused3

Breakfast buffet looks good. Waiting for dinner porn.

Enjoy Debbie Reynold! :hyper:

This made me hungry and I haven't even seen the steak.

I'm not into margaritas, but seeing that big one pushed me to have a big glass of wine.

I was giving Fran the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully if Arline is following she didn't take offense :)

I think I first know Debbie Reynolds from being Carrie Fisher's mother, but she was a famous actress in her own right also. I hope the show is fantastic, glad you were able to get tickets and juggle reservations without trouble.

Hope you have a wonderful day, I love the live updates!

Dinner porn will be coming up right away!

Just wait if this next one doesn't make you hungry, I don't know what will!

Thanks! Another update coming right up!

After our somewhat expensive blackjack experience this morning, we took a few hours off to relax. In the afternoon Arline and I went to Walmart to pick up a few goodies that we forgot and both of us decided that we needed smaller purses so that we could get around the casinos easier. My 25 lb purse is not so easy to carry all around.! :lmao:

On our way out of the hotel I snapped this picture of the Mystic Falls area of the hotel.

After our shopping trip we all changed for dinner and gathered to get ready to leave for the restaurant. Once we arrived we were seated immediately. Having been here before, I was a little predisposed to repeat some of our wonderful tastes from previously. There are some things that I love eating with a Belvedere Gibson so that’s what I ordered. Sorry the pictures are a little blurry, but it was very dark in the restaurant and I didn't want to disturb the other diners and keep flashing for all the pictures.

Fran got a pineapple Martini

DSCN3486.jpg

They brought us some bread

DSCN3481.jpg

As before we started with Oysters. Arline only wanted three and since they can only be ordered by the half dozen, I sucked it up and ate her other three.

DSCN3487.jpg

We also couldn’t resist the Onion Rings, in fact Fran ordered another set directly Togo.

DSCN3488.jpg

They had a chopped salad with bacon, blue cheese and some other stuff, but that was all I needed to hear and I was all over it!

DSCN3489.jpg

Then we split a Bone in Rib Eye and a side of asparagus between the three of us. I got to knaw on the bone.

For dessert, we ordered a lemon cake

And another repeat, the molten center chocolate cake

So throughout our dinner, they kept opening up this thing and people kept looking inside it. There were bright lights that were shining in our eyes so I decided on the way out that I would ask what the heck it was. Evidently they had recently purchased a rare wine collection. I know they told us who the producer of the wine was, I don't remember, but I doubt that anyone is going to drink these bottles.

I keep missing all these updates. Dang. Sorry, I am trying to keep up. All the food looks great. Did you say you went to the strip? If so what does it look like at christmas time? All the food looks amazing. Okay I am craving the corned beef hash.:thumbsup2

That Margarita glass is enormous! I once had a drink of some fruity concoction that large in the Bahamas and DH says I fell asleep before my dinner arrived! I have no memory and deny such to this day! :rotfl2:

And I'll take the bacon, the oysters and some 007 wine please!

Thank you!

That bone rib eye must have been enormous! Bacon looked great.....salad too. :thumbsup2
Interesting collection of bottles. 'Nice' (or is it pretty?) labels...;)

Thanks for sharing.

We passed through the strip on our way into town, but were so tired all we could do was avoid some pedestrians and head to our hotel. Just keep checking back every day, Fran is so tired that when we come back to the room for her to rest, I upload more pictures.

 Unfortunately I practice enough that I don't fall asleep, but I do have to say that I slept really well that night!

The Rib Eye was 22oz, split three ways and we still didn't finish it! They sent us home with another full loaf of bread, we could make sandwiches with it!

Well today has been slow. We had breakfast in the room, I ate the leftover Cheese Enchiladas, Fran hasn't had anything yet. After that Arline and I went here.

DSCN3506.jpg

I got three new pairs of shoes. We were planning to have lunch at the Hofbraushaus, but Fran didn't feel up to it, so instead I got a massage.

I'm now debating whether or not to go downstairs and play a little Blackjack or get a bite to eat. We have tons of food in the cooler, but I'm not in the mood for onion rings or steak. I'm sort of leaning towards an egg roll and some soup from Panda Express in the Food Court downstairs.

We'll see what happens!

OK, OK, so the margarita is bigger than my head! :rotfl2: But you know what? That one was $11.99 and the little one that Fran got (you can see it in the picture with the Quesadilla) was $6.99. So who got the better deal?

You did! :thumbsup2

How was Debbie Reynolds? Or is that tonight?

I always gnaw on the bone. Get yer mind out of the gutter ;) DH and the kids know when DH cooks any sort of ribbeye or lamb they pass the bone to their cavewoman mother. In my first WDW trip report there is a pic of me at Marrakesh gnawing on some jumbo lamb bone. In public. I might be small but I'm not dainty. :cool2:

Did you try the corned beef hash? That is my favorite breakfast item. Mimi's Cafe has the one of the best I've tried.

The oysters would be right up DH's alley. I'm not so much into the slimey ones but I like ones with parmesean cheese that are baked. The name is escaping me. :upsidedow

Merry Christmas Eve. We are getting ready for a house full tonight. We went and got some yummy cheeses (I am so unrefined), hard salamis, olives, etc...DH is making his Moroccan Stew too. :lovestruc I'll have to post some pics on either my DL tr or my WDW prt. I put them all on Facebook. Do you do Facebook?

Enjoy your night and Merry Christmas.

Rentayenta, sounds like you have a great evening planned. I do FB, but don't check it often enough. I have a whole group for "Disney" friends.

I think you're talking about Oysters Rockfeller.

Off for another nice dinner tonight, go to get dressed and post another update.

Friday, after a snack at Panda Express (sorry no pictures) and resting in the room we headed off to the South Point Casino for Debbie Reynolds show. I didn’t take any pictures of the casino so I found these online,

This is a picture I stole of the interior of the casino

Most of the restaurants are off the casino floor. This place is huge so they have about a dozen or more restaurants. Some are “open air” to the casino, others have doors and walls separating them from the Casino itself. Last time we came here was to enjoy the Steak and Shake, this time I had my eye on the Oyster Bar that I noticed last time. Not that I necessarily wanted oysters, but they have an entirely seafood menu.

DSCN3507.jpg

Now I know this isn’t all that exciting, but the rolls were actually pretty good! I didn’t finish because I wanted to eat my dinner.

DSCN3508.jpg

We shared a lot of things between us. I got a salad and split it with Arline, this is the portion after the split.

DSCN3509.jpg

Fran got the New England Clam Chowder and let me have the crouton which I ate dipping into the soup.

DSCN3510.jpg

Arline got the Manhattan Clam Chowder and ate it herself.

DSCN3512.jpg

I ordered linguine and clams, they made it very similar to my home recipe, but with a few different seasonings.

DSCN3514.jpg

Once I doused it with parmesan cheese it was excellent.

DSCN3515.jpg

Fran and Arline split a Grilled Cheese and lobster sandwich.

DSCN3513.jpg

Look at all the Lobster in there!

DSCN3516.jpg

That’s it for the dinner update. Next up Debbie Reynolds!
