Third Time's a Charm PTR - May 2012 - I should give up on planning trips.

That's 6 meals a day???

  • Breakfast
  • Brunch
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon Tea
  • Dinner
  • Supper

This is a discussion we’ve been having on another thread about groceries. Last stay at WDW I used Garden Grocer, I had used them in the past and they were fine, but this last time they really messed up. The mushrooms were slimy, like they had been purchased days before and sat in a cooler, they forgot our lettuce. I called them and the lady on the phone promised to make it right, but she didn’t. :sad2: They never credited our account, they never delivered the lettuce.

For this trip we plan on using WeGoShop. This service is a little different, you don’t order from a shopping cart technology online. You choose your market, you make your grocery list like at home and submit the list. They will even deliver alcoholic beverages, but you need to be present to sign for the order and be able to show ID.

The thing is that you need to be specific on your list, brands and sizes and what would be acceptable substitutions. I feel uneasy that we still haven’t decided what to cook on the night we go to Discovery Cove! :rotfl: I know that it’s still four and a half months away, but still I like to have an idea. We’ll have to work that out to a few possibilities maybe on the way to Las Vegas.

We will receive our groceries Tuesday night when we arrive. So far I plan on ordering breakfast foods, yogurt, V8, bacon & eggs, bread for toast and sandwiches, butter, sliced cheese, sodas for Fran, Vitamin water for Arline, milk, some apples, bananas, maybe even some Rice Krispies. I’m trying to figure out what to do about coffee, there has been discussion that you need to have “pods” for the coffee makers at AKV, I’m trying to figure out what “pods” are. I’ll also need to order whatever we need for the dinner Friday night, and something for sandwiches since we’ll be making lunch in the room on a couple days.

We’ll ponder the dinner question. We have a bunch of other things to consider in what to serve for dinner. Low sodium diet, certain food allergies, potential pickiness, ease of preparation, and the fact that we are eating it three nights after the groceries are delivered.

Well that’s it for this ponderance, anyone have experience with We Go Shop?

Well here we are planning Day 2 of the trip. If you’ll remember, due to a difficulty in scheduling dining reservations, we swapped Day 2 & 3, so this means that instead of picking up the rental car, going to EPCOT and dining at Raglan Road we are going to the AK instead and coming back in time for the culinary tour of Boma & Jiko at 4PM then having dinner at Jiko around 7:45.

There are extra magic hours at the AK so we could arrive as early as 8AM

Our first stop would most likely be here

For as many times as I have been on this ride, even the Sunrise Safari, I still never tire of it.

I think that these are some of the highlights of AK

IMG_0013.jpg

I like these guys even though they can have a stigmatism of being creepy.

IMG_0016.jpg

I love these beautiful animals.

IMG_0034.jpg

And then these noble animals.

IMG_0045.jpg

And of course these

Now, one thing that I have never done at AK is this and I want to make sure we catch one of these shows. Another disclaimer, I stole these pictures from another DISer so they are not mine.

At some point we’ll grab lunch, and this would be my first choice in the park.

By this point, we may have reached overload and need to take a break, but maybe not. So we could move on to this trail, another one of my favorites.

I think this one would top off the whole day at the park if we still have time left.

If anyone wanted to hop on Dinosaur on our way out, I wouldn’t argue. I’m sure that this day will have many twists and turns in that we’ll want to check out the animals around the tree of life, the ones on the hill on the way in, and Arline may want to see Flights of Wonder or we could run into Devine. That’s the fun thing about a Disney vacation that you make plans, but you also go by seat of your pants, when something neat comes by, you stop and watch. And don’t forget that Fran likes to stop in every store possible.

We’ll have to be flexible since the Festival of the Lion King is offered at key times during the day. The walking trails can be done at any time, but we should get the Safari and EE out of the way first thing in the morning. Once we’ve done most everything we want or it hits 2PM whichever comes first, we’ll head back to the resort and rest up for the evening.

For a minute there I thought you were describing me.:rotfl:

Your trip planning is coming along nicely.

Whilst it is nice to be flexible, I find that a WDW vacay works best when you already have a plan in mind....that way, if nothing else bumps into you, there's a whole day already planned and waiting to be followed! Good plan for AK. :thumbsup2

You forgot 2nd breakfast and 11sies!

That would make it 8 meals in the day. You need a couple more options...:rotfl:

Well that’s it for this ponderance, anyone have experience with We Go Shop?

I've never used them myself but some of the Aussies swear by WeGoShop. The ones that have used them seem to prefer them to GG.

Inquiring minds wanna know.....which way was Alison describing you? The stop in every shop possible or the go by the seat of the pants :confused3...

Here's a picture of the coffee pods. I posted it on the AKL thread since others were wondering about it too. But they look like the same thing they used in the espresso machine in the Kilamanjaro CL, and were so easy to use. You just slide it in the front and the machine pierces it and makes a single cup.

I just looked this up, it could be a four cup pod also, not sure which one they'll have, but this is a good article. http://cuisinartcoffee.com/

Both fit to a tee. You have to see what's new in the shops and I'm like the Dog in Up, SQUIRREL! DH wishes I'd look around once in a while to see my group is no longer with me.

Hi Everyone! This is Arline again, I had to create a new screen name and have been MIA for a while!

 and Welcome to the Dis Arline.

I'm one of Alison's Friends-in-a-Box and have met her face to face in January this year. Hope that you enjoy the planning and have a great time at the World.

Alison, is Arline also a morning person? I am not, so have never been to a rope drop in my life.

Very nice pics! Welcome Arline! Looking forward to more.

I'm here too! Welcome to the DIS Arline!! :yay::yay::yay:

(

Hi Arline and welcome! :welcome:

....embarrassed to say...i've never eaten Indian food. But I would love to! I don't think there is anything here in Tulare or Visalia. :confused3

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome, and I look forward to getting on the boards more often and will try to reply in a timely manner. I am a morning person, especially when it comes to enjoying Disney. I'm raring to go exploring in Disney with my friends Fran and Alison, and maybe even meet up with some of you someday!

Alicia, I look forward to finding Indian food in Tulare and Visalia, and I would love to have you join me and exploring it, so that when Alison comes we have a place we can go together.

The young Indain boy was thinking hard. So he went to the chief.

Chief Soaring Hawk, how do we get our names? The Chief said well, when a child is born thier father takes them out of the hut names them after what he sees. For example, Smoking Water was born where the river meets the mountains on a cold morning. Leaning Tree was born on a very stormy night. Bright Moon was born when the moonlight would cast a shadow in the middle of the night. When I was born a Hawk was circling my village. Why do you ask Pooping Tiger?
