Third Time's a Charm PTR - May 2012 - I should give up on planning trips.

Wow, if it's not one thing it's another. Fingers crossed it will work out time wise. I'm sure it's been hard to stay positive during such a trying times, I hope you both are doing well on that front

I was able to read your Destination-D TR, it was magnificent! That story of Donald with the ducks choked me up a bit. All the info was so wonderful!

Thanks, I was just out running some errands and she asked me to bring her home a Fast Food burger, so that's a good sign! :rotfl: After eating she said she felt a little more "human" than she had when she laid down for a nap.

There sure was a lot of information packed into that weekend! It was neat to see all those old pictures and hear the stories from the guys who did it all. The ducks were hilarious! With their little hats and the story of how the other ducks would attack out of hat envy! :rotfl2:

So I’ve made my first modifications to our itinerary! :rotfl2:

After almost a month of trying to secure a Reservation at Raglan Road for our second night, I decided to poke around the system. Turns out every other day around it had availability, so I deduced that there must be a Private Party scheduled in there for the night.

We had picked most of our nights pretty carefully. The last night is at ‘Ohana and we need to keep that one since it is a monorail resort and we will turn in the rental car the afternoon of the last day. I didn’t want to change our V&A’s or HDDR since those were slightly more involved to change. Friday night is resort switch, and we’ll be too pooped after a long day to even consider dining out. Our first night needs to be at our resort, so the only night that left to swap was our Jiko night. Turns out I was able to get both reservations and switch them around.

This changes our plans a little bit. Instead of picking up the rental car on the second day, we’ll take the bus to AK. Even if we don’t get a new bus that can accommodate three scooters, it’s such a short ride over that it won’t matter that much if one of us gets stuck on another bus. There are also AM EMH that day so we could take advantage of that too. We can stay until 2:00 or 3:00 and go back to the resort.

We’ll have plenty of time to make the 4PM Culinary Demo at Boma/Jiko and time to relax in the room before dinner at Jiko. Thursday we can pick up the rental car, and save a day on that and then hit EPCOT in the afternoon (or any other park if we like) and then drive over to DTD for Raglan Road. So, hopefully that’s the last of any changes we make!

The ADR fairies must be working for you! You're dinners sounds great!

I made most of them at the 180 day + mark, but that Raglan Road one had me stumped. I'm glad I finally started checking around to see what was going on because I could have been trying up until a point when I couldn't have switched them and that would have been a drag!

I soooooo can't wait to go! Canceling the other trip has made me so uber excited! I know I have some great nights and a trip to DL, but the dining part just isn't the same. Mostly 'Ohana, but when we eat there it means the trip will be over! That's the last night before we leave!

Are you going to CP this weekend? Someone I work with was heading down to DL today, made wish I was going too. Oh well next Nov will get here before we know it. This last year has flown by.

Five weeks from today we'll be at Aulani!!!

OK, here are some more "feeling the Kidani love" photos. I can't take credit for these as they are my friend Christoper's (aka stopher1). He takes marvelous photos and his family visited the week before I did in 2010. Don't mind the stuff in the photos

Glad you got Raglan Street worked out.

AK looks fabulous. I need to go stay there one of these trips.

Alison, is this the only thread you're updating on now? I noticed your other thread isn't very active?

Anyways, I LOVE the little scene in the shower! Oh my gosh it's awesome! Also loving the detail in the chairs.

How is Fran???

Yes, we did go to the CP last weekend and I will be posting here about it, but give me a bit of time. We've been cleaning house to "pass" inspection so that we can get a pal for Mac, so I've become quite behind on all my online forums.

BTW you should check out Spleen's TR from Aulani, they are locals who took a weekend there. It's on the Mousecellaneous board. If that doesn't make you excited about your trip, I don't know what will!

Of all the resorts, I have stayed at AKL more than any other resort, I really love it, but since it's such a huge DVC resort, I don't need to own there because it's pretty easy to get in there at 7 months.

I'm updating both threads. Fran is OK, but she wore herself out at the CP. She's been pretty much down for the count since then. I really hope that I can get her up for the trip to Las Vegas. I don't want to miss out on that.

How excellent you were able to work it out!

Yeah, I'm glad that we have our ADRs worked out now! :thumbsup2

As of now, is the trip still on?

So far it is. It's still 13 days away, and you'd be surprised what she can motivate herself to do. When I post my CP update, she was sort of nuts (that's why she is so wiped out now), but I might not get that up before you leave!

Yes I want to hear about the CP! That's okay, I'll wait when I get back to read it.

I know you won't see this for at least a week, but it is now updated on my other PTR. I hope you two are having fun at DLR and your cruise is spectacular. We won't be driving up to Tulare in December after all, Arline feels well enough to drive herself down here, so it will be a while before we are back up again. Possibly February, but if she feels up to driving down we might just let her do that then too.

I suspect we will making a visit to my folks house. If we go sometime in April we might get to see her Irises in full bloom. If we do that, we'll pop through Tulare and we should meet up, although depending on your situation, we might be meeting at Starbucks instead of Chillitos! :rolleyes1

So this isn’t an update for WDW, but it is for a trip that we are taking with Arline. I made our reservation for the Blue Bayou today. We’re going to totally wing it on this trip and only make one ADR, the rest we’re going to do mostly QS or walk ups. I’m not really good with that, so I’m going to make some plans and then if we want to change them that’s fine! :lmao:

Wednesday February 8, 2012 we will check-in to a 1 br at VGC and we’re staying until Saturday.

Our room will probably not be ready because I want to arrive around noon. I think we should pick up FP’s for WoC so that we can see it from the viewing area that night instead of having Arline’s first viewing from the balcony. That is if we get a Paradise Pier View Room.

I think a good plan will be to head to DL, we can get magic FPs for Star Tours, and Space Mtn. and perhaps a regular FP for Indiana Jones. We might even send Fran for the Indy passes while the two of us ride SM. Our goal is to get Arline on as many rides and see as many shows as we can in this period.

I figure that between Wednesday and Saturday we’ll eat two meals a day out and have breakfast in the room (that’s three dinners and potentially four lunches.) Arline doesn’t want to do any character breakfasts, and we’re not making any reservations for the fancy places. That leaves us with these options

Table Service
House of Blues (Arline wanted to do this at WDW, but since we have one here, we can enjoy more of the variety of restaurants at WDW)
Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen
Trader Sams Tiki Bar
Blue Bayou (Friday morning at 11:30AM) only ADR so far.
Carnation Plaza (maybe we might make one breakfast out, perhaps Thursday after MM are over)
Mickey’s Backyard BBQ sounds good too
Obviously there are more options, but unless Arline requests something, these are our choices!

Quick Service
Bengal Barbeque
Plaza Inn
Corn Dog Palace
Hungry Bear (Arline wants to try the Fried Green Tomatoes Sandwich)
Riverbelle Terrace (Fran requested this one, and I’ve never eaten there)
Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port (I love the Chicken Fusilli and have only eaten here twice)
I would like to try the new places at DCA, I think one is Pizza, Pasta and Salad, I don’t remember about the other.

OK so there are more places that I want to eat at than possible, however the Bengal Barbeque can be snacks if we split a couple skewers. All I care about is the bacon wrapped asparagus one. Also if we split a cheese and a hot dog between us at the Corn Dog Palace that could be a snack too. I’ll need to come to terms that in a Disney vacation, you can never do everything you want to.

Oh well, I guess the only real plans that we have are to go to the Blue Bayou on Friday. Maybe we’ll make a reservation at the Carnation Plaza for breakfast Thursday morning. We can talk about that while on the road to Vegas.

So there’s my update on the Disneyland trip!

Saana is on my must-try list as well as the Turf Club at SSR. Have you been there?

Love the pics of AKV. :thumbsup2

Wow! this is wacky post stuff! I have not been to Sanaa, but I have been to Turf Club. I had the strip loin with blue cheese and it was awesome! We also go the onion rings and massively enjoyed them! :thumbsup2 From most of my online friends, I have heard nothing but good things from them about Turf Club and we really enjoyed our trip there, so I woudl receeomend it.

Been to Turf Club, Sanaa is still on the todo list.

Awesome that you made it over to this TR as well. Very confusing that I have two TR going at once! :rotfl2: Didn't mean to, but with the whole postponing of the other I coudn't help it!
