Third party lens

I have a Canon EOS Rebel XTi with Canon lenses. Can someone explain what features, if any, are lost when using a third party lens, such as Sigma, Tamron, etc. Thanks for the help.

As long as the lens is chiped for the camera, you have no features that are lost by using a third party lens. some of them are excelent, some are garbage, but that is the case with the canon name on the side as well.

I agree, just do your homework about the lenses before you buy. At different focal lengths and different apertures, different lenses have different strengths. I've got some Canon and some Sigma lenses, and I've had great luck with both.
