I have not been here for a while. I got out of the photography mode for a while BUT I got a new puppy (standard poodle) in Dec. and now I have the bug again! ;) Plus I have a trip to WDW in May, and another one to Niagara Falls so I'm thinking it's now or never!

I currently have the Canon S5 point & shoot. I am looking at the Canon EOS Rebel T2i. I have always been happy with the support I have gotten from Canon so I want to stay with them.

I'm sure this camera has been discussed here before but, if you have this model could I please have your opinions.

Thanks a bunch! :goodvibes

I love mine, took it to WDW last year and have some great shots. With the T3i coming out soon you may wish to wait and see if the price drops on the T2i.
Here is a link to a great review on the T2i.

The T2i is a very good camera. A couple of years ago, I made the jump from an S3 IS to the T1i, and have been extremely happy with that camera. Plus, it was a nice transition of knowledge from one camera to the next.

I would like to give you one caution. Do yourself a favor and at least go handle some other cameras side by side with the T2i. You might not like it compared to something else.

Thanks, I was going to do that very thing!

I am moving from a Canon G11 to a Nikon D90 (it should be delivered tomorrow!) I seriously thought about the Canon T2i, but I prefer Nikon lenses. (Just personal preference.) :)

The Canon T2i (550D) would be a good upgrade from the S5, - if you like the articulating screen of the S5 consider the newer T3i (600D) or 60D

If you take advantage of the articulate screen on your S5 often enough, I'd also suggest looking into one of those cameras. I wish I had those options when I made the dslr jump. I still miss that screen sometimes. :(
