Ok I love OKW and although I have never stayed at VWL I have seen it (pool hopping) and it is spectacular! But if I want to see tall pines I can look in my backyard - we live in the northeast and there are tons of pines. When we go to Florida I want to feel like I'm in Florida I like the tropical feel of OKW - now all you VWL owners don't get mad at me - VWL is wonderful but when I go on vacation I want to distant myself as much as I can from anything that reminds me of home - so I can put work and lifes daily challenges out of my mind! Plus if I see too many pines I will think of home and then I will start to miss my dog and cat and then I will feel home sick:( So all that being said - has anyone else sold dvc and if so, to sell, who would you recommend us using - I am leaning towards the timeshare store because we bought our resale with them and all went well. Thanks for listening:D

Do you really want to sell VWL points for OKW points? Really, you have a pretty good chance of being able to book OKW at the 7 month window from the posts generally indicate; the same is not true of VWL. And, I would think you should at least stay at VWL once to decide if that's what you really want to do.

I don't know if it could be done, but if so, would you want to consider trading points? All of mine are at OKW and I'd like the opportunity to have VWL points. You can email me at jeford530@aol.com if you're really considering it. Thanks.

You might change your mind when you see how much it will cost you to do this. Remember, you will have to pay a broker a commission fee to sell your VWL contract. My understanding is that most brokers have a minimum fee ($1000 -$1500 is what I remember from other posts). You will also have to pay closing costs when you purchase your OKW contract (IIRC, $400 -$500). I'm sure there are others out there who can give you better estimates of these costs than I can. My point is that your plan could cost some fairly large $$ to implement. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

The more points you have the lower percentage of the transaction will be eaten up in fees and commissions. The best bet would be to trade with another member.

Please send me an e-mail at rbak@optonline.net and I can share with you our experience selling broker free - so easy really. Obviously, the toughest (not impossible) part is finding a buyer, but after that closing the transaction was no more challenging than with a resale.

Look forward to hearing from you.

How many pts we talking about. I am actually a little heavy on OKW pts and a little lite on VWL.

I have to agree there is no real advantage to this idea. OKW should be possible to get most times of the year with VWL points as long as you are not looking for a GV or studio.

How many do you have to trade? We're using our okw points in Feb at WLV. The kids loved it there before DVC. They're looking forward to horseback riding at the campground, and renting the boats.

As everyone else has said...your best bet is to just use the 7 month window on OKW.

Failing that...KNWVIKING alluded to an alternative approach...now perhaps this isn't want they meant but you could swap contracts with someone who has more OKW than they want. But you only want to do that if you want to get something at OKW you can only get at 11 months...which would be a grand villa.

I think you stand a better chance of booking the time you want at 11 months in VWL then switching at 7 months. OKW may have more of a tropical feel but VWL has an actual beach & an extensive outdoor activity center, a really nice gym and easy access over to Fort Wilderness via boat or trails...and also easy access to all the tropical feel you want by boat to the Polynesian/Grand Floridian.

And...here is the kicker but it isn't what you meant...VWL is much more native Florida than OKW is.

One other thing...OKW points seemed to be priced lower than VWL points...but with the amount of money you would lose to commission and what not...swapping contracts might work out to be the same price. The most trusting way to do that would be to add the total stranger you find to your contract (and you to theirs)...and then each file a quit claim on the original contract. You'd save the most money this way but...of course this would be the most incredibly naive (insane?) approach in the world.

It does appear that the original question has been answered. Since we do not allow any For Sale posts here at all and information about trading points belongs on the Rent/Trade Board, this thread has served it purpose.
