Hi! I'm new to the boards...first post!! :cheer2:

My fiance is a complete and utter Disney World nut. He has been to WDW every year since he was born (24 times).

We'd been planning our wedding and thought about having this big, modern wedding for 200 guests in Chicago, but then we decided we'd rather have something just for us. That led us to thinking about Disney World.

I know that they offer weddings and honeymoon packages, but we literally are trying to find the perfect way to have a super private wedding with zero guests. We still want to do the tux and wedding gown but are looking for something special for the two of us to share.

Any ideas?

Most everything I've found has too much food or cake or reception stuff with it.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome. You probably want a Escape package. It's a intimate ceremony with a cake cutting and champagne toast. You can look at disneyweddings.com to get a idea of costs. Alot of brides on here just do them and their DF. I'm sure you will get lots of imput everyone is very helpful.

We are having an Escape Wedding for just me, DF, and our 16 year old dd. No one else. We are having it at Sunset Point, which is small enough that they actually limit the number of guests. We are then having the cake cutting and Champagne toast. After that, we are heading over to 1900 park fair for a fun dinner.

Even though it is just the three of us, I am still wearing a wedding dress, and he is wearing a tux. I think Disney is perfect for small weddings!

WELCOME & Congratulations!!!!!!

We are all here for you!!

The Intimate wedding is the way to go for you.

Way back in 1997 I had an Intimate with just me, DH,my mom & her hubby...it was perfect

Hey....im form the chicagoland area....near woodfield(HE) where are you from?

:goodvibes

We wanted a really relaxed and chilled wedding, and got married at the Yacht Club Gazebo. It's a really pretty setting and Disney were fantastic! Go for it, we got married abroad and then we're having a party in a few weeks for friends at home.
Good luck with your planning.

So, I decided to show my DF some of the other Disney brides pictures and wedding experiences and now he is thinking that maybe he'd like a few guests there.

I think the name of the packages vary between the UK/US, our intimate wedding included the wedding party e.g. bride, groom.
To get married at Disney we needed to stay at Disney for a week, and we needed to purchase disney passes. None of our guests stayed at disney, and most bought 1 or 2 day tickets for disney. They didn't need a ticket to attend the wedding at the YC.
We didn't find it too expensive, and our guests agreed.
We didn't pay for our guests travel, and everyone used as their main holiday for 2007. We all stayed in different places, so we had time together.
We were provided with a list of different officiants to pick from by Disney, we had to contact them directly to book.
Just thinking that it may be slightly different arrangement for you over there but thought this might help.
OOOH how exciting! Happy planning xxx

I know what you mean... when we were considering a wedding at home in Chicago, we first put together a guest list we were up to 200 for just my side!! I said mom, I don't even know some of the people on here :rotfl2: this is crazy! I am SO glad we are having the intimate wedding... I will feel much more relaxed and so will DF... plus we get to get married at the happiest place on earth! and share it with our closest friends and family members.

well, whatever you decide, welcome :grouphug: you've come to the right place... :thumbsup2 and congrats! :cheer2:

Well, my family lives 7 hours south of Chi-town and his parents do live there. They are both well known professionals and wanted us to have this monster wedding. We were looking to have ONLY 150 guests. They had 150 people that THEY wanted invited. It just wasn't going to work. Especially since DF and I are footing the entire bill.

So, it just seems like a better fit to have a smaller WDW wedding. Even if we do the Wishes wedding instead of the escape, it will still be much cheaper.

Ugh, dealing with the in-laws already...fun :furious:
