Thinking of going solo, need some Help!

I've been to Disney several times with my family, but now being in college, I want to go on my own. Over the next year I think I will have enough money saved, but i need some tips. What hotels are best for a college student's budget, and considering time spent there? Any other tips that you guys could offer would be great. I'm really looking forward to go at my own pace and do things I want to do.
