Thinking of doing the Walk In Walt's Footsteps Tour

Going to Disneyland on September 24th and I'm thinking of doing this tour. I already booked it, but just found out that they don't show Walt's apartment anymore

I'm sort of bummed from this news, but I heard they now take you into the Dream Suite.

So my question is do you think the tour is still worth it?

I'm a huge Disney nerd and I love Walt and the history of Disneyland.

Just would like some thoughts on this.

We did the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour in April. It was nice, but I already know most everything that was shared. The Dream Suite was fun.
I really loved the California Story tour at DCA. Lots of fun facts, smaller group, great guide.

From what I've read about it, it's a 3 hour tour that takes you throughout the park and the tour guide tells you about the history of DL and of Walt's vision. You get to go on 3 rides, VIP style. They also had Walt's apartment on the tour but now, because it's not ADA accessible, it's not on the tour. Instead they show you the Dream Suite. You get a free lunch or dinner from Jolly Holiday bakery. At the end you get a little pin and some other things.

I voted yes, but with some hesitancy. I took the tour in 2012 when Club 33 and Walt's apartment were still stops on the tour and to be honest they were true highlights of the tour. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much without them. However, I did enjoy the tour and I did learn somethings about Disneyland and the park. You are in a different position though, you aren't expecting the apartment or Club 33 so therefore no disappointment there. I do think the Dream suite would be fun to see.

Have you thought about doing the Welcome to Disneyland tour? I took the Cultivating the Magic tour a month ago and our guide was asked a question about it and it sounds like you get a fair amount of fast passes, and ride some of the attractions on it as well and I don't think it is as long. I can't remember all the things she said about it, but I was tempted to book it and we have been to DL a few times.

I voted No because they took Walt's apt. and C33 off the tour. I don't feel there's enough value to merit the same price without those items. If they want to add those places back on or replace then with comparable items (what ever that could be) then that would be different.

I think as long as you go into the Walt's Footsteps Tour knowing that you won't see the apartment and don't let that impact your enjoyment of the tour, it is an interesting tour especially if you are interested in the history of Walt and the park. I have been on a couple tours at DL and a couple at WDW and I had a great time on all of them. It is now kind of a goal to do as many tours as possible!

Well, it sounds like you already booked it, and as far as I know, they're non-refundable, so it would be silly not to take advantage of it. Make the most of it, use the chance to get on a few rides without waiting, and enjoy the meal.

After sleeping on it, reading everyones comments, and reading more about the tour I think it's still worth it. But only if you're a huge Walt Disney fan and love the history of the parks. Honestly, that's what I love so I think I'll enjoy it! I mean, of course I'm bummed that his apartment and club 33 aren't on the tour. But like I said, it sounds like it will never be on the tour again.

I'm assuming you are allowed to pick whatever you want on the menu! I think it includes lunch/dinner and desert!

I really don't know why they don't have the itinerary on their website! I'm wondering if it's because they change it up all the time. For the rides, I know that if a certain one is down for that day they will take you on a different one! For example, when Peter Pan was going through refurbishments they took the tour on Pirates I think!

I agree. I would do the tour in a heartbeat if they'd add Walt's apartment back to the tour. Otherwise, I feel like I would probably know a lot of the stuff they'll be telling me, anyway, and I'd rather have that time to tour the park at my own pace.
