Posted this elsewhere (what was I thinking :rolleyes1) and received one response (thank you BradyBz12) so I am keeping my fingers crossed that the experts here will help us make a decision.

Plan is to purchase AP's and do 3 trips in one year before AP expires, take a year off and do the same again.

Current plans are Apr 2010, Early Dec 2010, Mar/Apr 2011
wait a year then Mar/Apr 2012, Halloween 2012, Mar/Apr 2013

We are now flip flopping about changing to
Early Dec 2010, Mar/Apr 2011, Halloween 2011
Early Dec 2012, Mar/Apr 2013, Halloween 2013

First plan has us at Xmas and Halloween every 4 years, Second plan has us there every 2 years.

What it boils down to is....do you think you would rather do an annual trip at spring break time or in early December? It is a personal preference thing, depending on your schedules and whether you prefer to escape the cold weather early in the winter or at the end of winter.

Personally, my FAVORITE time of year at the Fort is early December. We have been the past three years at that time, as well as in March the past couple years. Early December has lighter crowds, nicer weather IMO (bright days and crisp nights), the incredible decorations and festiveness, and depending on timing lower site rates at the Fort I think. Of course, you have to balance the idea of being away from home during a stretch of the Christmas season if that matters to you. We give up some of our Christmas "prep" time, which means we need to plan to shop early and try to get ahead of the game, plus there are parties and such at home that we miss because we are gone. To us it has been worth it, but you need to factor in those things. You typically don't miss as much back home when you go in the spring.

No matter what way you go, remember to look for every available discount if you buy AP's. Tables in Wonderland is good, and there are sometimes site discounts available if you can find them.

Have fun!

I would rather be at Disney (and the Fort) around Halloweentime and Christmastime than at Spring Break. I think I would try to maximize your Oct and Dec trips.

I gotta say that being at the Fort during March is great. Weather is great...and by the time we get back spring is here.:cloud9: It just seems to make the winter feel so much shorter! Mind you if we had the dough we would love to do Christmas :santa: and Spring Break :yay:.....come on Lottery Numbers!!:worship:

I would do plan two with coming every two years. We actually come every year. We purchase the AP and get 2 vacations out of it. We went the last 2 weeks of December in 2008 and the first 2 weeks in 2009. Since we are coming from Maryland, we stay about 2 weeks. If gas was cheaper, we would come more ofter, but what can you do.
Christmas is a great time to come. The first couple weeks of December is not crowded, but the decorations are up. If you have never been to The Fort at Christmas, it is an experience. The decorations are unbelievable. It is really fun. Also, Spring Break is really crowded. :mickeyjum:mickeyjum:mickeyjumHope this helps.
