We were originally booked AKL std, then we switched to CSR, now we are at poly Cl. I know all over the place right ....

so I am having second thoughts about poly. Read not so great reviews about CL and the monorail closures are a pain since for us the monorail is a major reason to pay extra for poly.

So I was thinking about grand Floridian CL which would cost us $150 more, but same issues with monorail (actually I think writing this just made me cross this off the list lol)

Or

Back to akl std for half the price and book some nice dinners or do CL there for a little less

Or

Wilderness lodge std but little concerned about construction. As long as main pool is open I think it will be ok.

We will be having one resort day, and rest of time at magic kingdom

Thoughts?

I would keep your CL stay at the Polynesian. In addition to the Resort Monorail, your have the motor launch from the Poly boat dock. What is your concern about the Resort Monorail and when are you planning?

My second choice would be the Wilderness Lodge. The current construction is only on the South Wing and is not a major impact to the overall resort and the limited number of rooms, cuts down on the number of other guests considerably!

Update: The WL main pool and the splash zone are open.

If you really want a monorail resort then maybe you should consider Contemporary. The theme park view rooms are amazing, plus if there are monorail closures you can walk to Magic Kingdom plus then if you want to go to Epcot and the monorails are down they usually have a bus that will take you from Contemporary to TTC and then hop the monorail for Epcot if that 1 is ok, or you would change buses at that point to get to Epcot. But IMHO I would stick to AKL. They have their own bus system so no sharing with other resorts plus you don't have to worry about monorail closures and how you are getting to where you need to be and its such a beautiful resort (at least from the pictures I have seen, lol)...we are considering staying there for our next trip just have to compare prices for 2017 when they come out. We have stayed both Contemporary and Grand Floridian and both times transportation was a nightmare bc the monorail was down...this is why we are starting to consider non monorail resorts lol

I would book a monorail resort and drop CL. Consider Poly, GF or CR (we prefer the Tower rooms and you can walk to MK). AKL is lovely but if you are only doing MK, that's s haul.

I would stay at the Poly anyway. You have other means of transportation (boat/bus) when the monorail is closed. The Poly is great for your resort day. Close to the MK for those days.

I would keep Poly. We stayed there in the CL Hawaii building in November and loved it! It is right on the beach and close to the boat dock. We had a great view from our room of Wishes and the electrical water pageant the one night we were back in time to see them. It was a short walk to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail. It was a short walk to the GCH for meals or browsing the stores and to the buses.

I'd you're planning to do MK, stay at a monorail resort. If you're planning a resort day, I'd stick with Poly or book the grand. Both are super fun resorts with lots to do. I'd drop club, because I don't think WDW's version of club level is worth the $$$.

Any reason you're not considering the CR? You can't get closer to the MK! It's a great resort, great food options and pools.

If not then I would go with the Grand, but I wouldn't do CL.

No reason we are not considering CR it's just one that never peaked my interest. Right now our fl resident discount for poly CL makes the room the same price as the only regular rooms that are available. I figure if I'm going to pay that much I may as well get some beer and wine out of it. Lol

Ok, I like your way of thinking, keep CL lol :drinking1
