Thinking of changing from THV at 7 months

Our family of five has a 7-day reservation at the THV from Jan 1-8, 2012. We originally thought that another family might join us, but now they cannot come. We are thinking about changing to a 2BR or 1BR at OKW if either is available. Variables are savings points (1BR vs. 2BR) and more space at OKW and being close to buses. We've stayed at OKW the last two years and love it, but we also like the idea of the THV. We're not thrilled about the longer bus rides from the THV though.

We'll be staying a the Swan for 4 nights (using Starwood points) before moving to a DVC property, so we're trying to decide what would be the best fit for our vacation. Any suggestions / advice?

I'd say keep the THV. There were 6 of us (myself, 3 kids and my parents), and we absolutely loved it there. For 5 of you, as long as someone can sleep in a bunk bed, you shouldn't need to use the pullouts in the living room.

Transportation for us was never really an issue. The combination of boats to DTD and busses were fine, and it's only about a 15 minute walk to the main SSR lobby.

We also liked the treehouse pool. Never crowded and has some shade.

I cannot compare to OKW, as we have never stayed there, but we thoroughly enjoyed the THV.

I love OKW also and can certainly understand wanting to save points. But I honestly think everyone should experience the treehouses at least once and the bus service is really not bad at all. There is a boat launch right there and the walk to the Grandstand section of SSR is very pleasant indeed. You will LOVE the THV!

We did not love THV; our least favorite DVC property. I'd switch to OKW in a heartbeat.

Can you tell us what you didn't like about the THV? I'm not sure that OKW will be available, but we're trying to decide before calling on June 1st if we do move. So far the long walk to the buses is the only downside that we see with the THV, but it sounds like you had other issues.

Another THV lover here. We really enjoyed it and did not have transportation issues. The pool was quiet... We enjoyed sitting out on the deck. There were 7 of us total.

You get a king sized bed at OKW, only have queens and a bunk at THV.
But you get the extra bedrooms at THV.

I like to try new places an since you are booked there, why not give it a try, you don't have to go back again. You may really enjoy the extra bedroom.
