Hi Im thinking of a beach break for a couple of days when I travel to Orlando in April and Had St Petes in mind. Does anyone know if this is a good idea and can anyone reccomend a good hotel tht would be suitable for families? (I have 2 boys under 3).
Thanks Jo

Why not try Anna Maria Island... just 3 hours away from Orlando on the gulf side. It's very low key, laid back and tropical. The Clearwater area is very built up with condos and high-rises - too commercial. Some people like that sort of thing... we prefer a more laid back feel.

Here's a place you might want to look into... it's even run by some folks from England.... looks gorgeous!

We were in Disney in 1999 when the huricane(Can't remeber the name) hit and the parks were closed for the day, just happened tobe my 39th birthday. We drove ove to St pete's and went on the beach and it was lovely. We enjoyed having a day that was not planned out and it was a really nice place to spend the day. Go for it!!!

Another great beach that is not too far from Disney is Crescent Beach on Siesta Key (Gulf side of state) It was voted one of the top 10 beaches in the country and is beautiful.
