We went to a DVC open house when we were in WDW at the end of May and are still thinking about buying into DVC. We are going back next week and told the DVC CM that we would stop buy when we are there (he called the other day). Does anyone know if they will still offer us the $10 off SSR or $8 off AKV per point incentive when we go back if we book right then?

As of now, yes they are still offering the price incentive - at least at AKV - I don't know about SSR. I just spoke to our guide mid last week about adding on, and he indicated the inventive was still available. Of course he couldn't give an ending date to the incentive, I got the impression it would be until at least the end of this month - maybe longer.

So they will offer it to us again when we go back?

I'd call your guide and ask. Sounds like the incentive may be around for a little while. I would think they would give some warning before eliminating it - kind of a "last call" so those on the fence would be able to make the decision.

The incentive is either $10 per point for SSR & $8 for AKV or developer points that must be used within 7 months. Your guide will give you all the info, but the incentives ar still in place as far as I know.

We just bought into the DVC for the first time on Wednesday (June 20th). We bought into the AKV and they were offering the $8 off per point. I asked how long they would be having this offer and he said that he could not say. He said that they could tell him tomorrow that is was over. Hopefully it will still be there when you are down there.

Just out of curiosity, why did you decide on AKV over SSR?

Our decision to pick AKV over SSR is that we really love the AKL, and we also liked the look and feel of the AKV rooms. It has fantasic theming, as well as the savannah with animals.

SSR, while a very nice resort, didn't seem to offer enough of the Disney magic for me. SSR and OKW are nice resorts, more condo like then hotel like, and are a good place to get away from it all.

Also, I thought that we could probably book SSR at the 7-month window and be able to book pretty much anytime. You won't be able to do that with AKV for a while.

We booked SSR over AKV mostly because my wife did not like the decor of the AKV. She felt it was too dark where the SSR units were brighter in color & feel. AKV is in a very remote area of WDW as well. The AKV units have a better layout & other ammemties but the motif swung my wife to SSR. a bit less money also but not by much.

We decided on AKV over SSR just because we love the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I agree that SSR seems like a brighter resort. We prefer the look of AKV. My wife also loves the animals. I believe that the AKV contract if for a few more years also. 2057 vs 2054 for SSR. That would probably make up for the difference in saving $10 per point at SSR as opposed to only $8 per point at AKV.

Basically, for us, we just like the AKV theme better than SSR and hopefully we will be able to stay in all of them eventually.

How hard is it to get reservations at other DVC's 7 months out? We usually go for the 3 day (Memorial Day & Labor Day) weekends and a week in July.

I really have no idea. I just bought into DVC last week and I have not tried to make reservations yet. From what I understand though, holiday weekends and summer months are usually harder to get a ressie only 7 months out. Someone else may be able to give you a better idea on this.

We usually go during the value season when crowds are low so I am hoping we will be able to book at the BCV and BWV only 7 months out. Has anyone had any luck trying to get ressies inside the 7 month window?

Thanks.

I believe that there is one difference from when you were there in May. I believe that the base price may have gone up by a couple of dollars. I bought into AKV during my May trip and I jsut called this week about an add-on. My guide told me about the incentive and I believe that the base price is $104 now.

Thanks. It was $104 when we were there.

It can be hard at the smaller resorts. Also depending on the time of year. I don't think you will have any problem at the larger resorts like SSR.
