So many of the servers/stewards are from the countries hit by that terrible Tsunami. This must be a very difficult time for them not knowing how their loved ones fared.

It's so hard for them to leave their families behind while pursuing their livelihood. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

What a great reminder...we saw footage on our stateroom television this morning before disembarking and were amazed at the devastation. We kept the crew members in our prayers during the hurricane, and we will be doing the same for this latest disaster.

In addition to this horrible tragedy, also remember that the crew are away from their families during the holidays. This can be a stressful time for both crew and families.

Thanks for the reminder - one of our servers, Fortune, is from India. He was so interesting to talk with.

This has got to be devastating for some of the DCL CM's!! We lived for 11 years in South East Asia and so many of the people who live there have so little!! When something like this happens, loss is so great and recovery is so slow. Yet the people somehow maintain their dignity and pride. That is why I get so upset when I hear or see someone treat CM' s with disdain or short them on their hard earned tips. Hopefully we will all remember this the next time we cruise!!!

When I saw the footage I was shocked and saddened and thought how horrible for those people in those countries....I am ashamed that I did not even realize how hard the CM's would be affected by this until reading your post.

Thanks for reminding us.

Yes, I think Depesh and his cousin who serves on the ship are from Sri Lanka. The crew is in our prayers.

Oh my gosh, Depesh was our server. I did not even put it together till now. I hope all is well for his family. He was looking forward to leaving in a couple months and going to work with his dad. Thanks for letting us know.

I just spoke with my DDIL, who was also on the cruise and she reminded me that Depesh's family live in South Africa. I had temporarily forgotten. Non the less this whole event is tragic and must have touched every cruise line. They will be in our prayers.

Anyone hear anything about our friends aboard the ship? Thanks for bumping it.

During the Thanksgiving cruise, our waiter was Sameer from India, I pray his family & fiance(he's getting married in March) are well. He was so great with our kids. Always had a smile on his face. Makes me very sad to think what all of these people are going through. After this devastating news, he was the 1st one I thought of.

I have not been watching the boards for a while, but came here looking for any news about CM and their families. we have had several servers and room stewards from the affected part of the world and hope they and their families are safe. If anyone has any news of navneet or Gabby please post here. Watching the news it is hard to believe the death and destruction.
