Does anyone know about how much commission is charged when you sell a contract? I have a message in to The Timeshare Store, but was wondering if anyone here has sold a contract and if so, has any information to share.

Thank you in advance.

Im pretty sure its 10%

I sold my westgate ownership myself on Ebay. The auction was only for the deposit which Ebay charges a final value commision fee for. I think it is around 6%. The rest of the payment goes directly to the closing company for escrow.

A timeshare closing company did the rest of the work, and they normally charge around $300 to $500 for which the buyer pays! So basically it cost me next to nothing.

I don't know enough about closing companies to feel comfortable going the eBay route. It is tempting though.

Usually 10%. Some are 12% and some have a minimum, usually in the $795 to %995 range.

I sold it myself with no problems. You can advertise on Redweek or Tug or numerous other sites. Once you have a buyer then turn it over to a good closing agent, I used www.TimeshareTitleandMore.com, and you are home free. I had a small problem with the closing being done very slowly as Disney was swamped at the time, but otherwise it is not that hard to do. I have also sold other timeshares going the same route. I cannot bear to give anyone 12% of a $20,000 contract.

Thanks IcyDog for the advice. It is good to know that I can save some of that large commission if I ever have to sell one of my contracts.
