Thinking about paying 'rack' - am i nuts?

I paid "rack rates" when we went (Me, my husband, and my 3 year old son) in April for Easter week. They CM on the phone told me they do not AAA discount or use codes for that week. If we would have waited one week later or went one week earlier we could have, but it was the only week we could go and we paid dearly for it. For a moderate resort, plane tickets, park tickets, etc... that trip cost us over $5,000. And I will never do it again. I now search all over the web for any info on discounts, codes, or whatever else I can find to save money.

Are there any discounts out there since they re-vamped the packages with MYW? I have been searching fro AP rates and other discounts since January and have seen nothing past April. Am I not looking in the right places? Even though we booked a package through a travel agent, would they be able to apply a discount if one is attached to my profile? can I just call disney travel to have a cm check the profile? There are so many tricks...this newbie is confused!!

Either the price is worth it to you vs. the other travel alternatives you might be interested in, or not.

I think this hits the nail on the head. Problem is, IMO rack rate at a Deluxe Disney resort is never worth it. I mean, $380 during regular season for a Tower Room at the Contemporary??? $490 during holiday season!!! And those aren't concierge rooms - as much as $700/night for those. Simply outrageous for the room you get. I know... location, location, location, but there ought to be a bit more luxury and service than the Disney resorts offer to justify those prices.

I will always rearrange my schedule to get a discounted rate. That's the main reason I have stayed at the Dolphin so often - availability of great rates even during peak times...
