Thinking about not doing ddp, a newbie question

Right now we have the ddp for table service. I am in the process of doing a little cost comparison to see if it is worth it.

I know that at QS resturants, we can order what we want, including if I want a kids meal.

However, is a 10 year old allowed to order off the kids menu at Table service? And am I correct that the buffets do have an age requirement for prices?

Thanks for your help...it will make a difference for my 10 year old picky eater that swears he can eat an adult meal but unless he gets a huge appetite walking around the park, I highly doubt he can eat that much.

As a 10yr old, he will pay adult prices.

Now, if you go to a TS and he wants to order off the child's menu he can...however they will charge an adult price for this but give him an adult portion as well.
At any buffet or all you can eat he will be considered an adult as well, whether on the plan or not.

So you are good in doing the price comparison to see if a plan is better for you.

Good luck and have fun!

Yes, you're right about the buffets where you will have to pay the adult price for your 10 year old. Also, some table service restaurants like Akershus which charge a set price regardless of what you actually order or eat.

But in most table service restaurants you will only pay for what you actually order off the menu, same as the quick service restaurants.

My 11 yo still orders off the kids menu - the adult meals are still just too big for her - unless she would prefer something from the adult menu since she isn't into nuggets and fries. This is why the dining plans don't make sense for us - we'd be spending far too much money on food that won't be eaten.

The table services may or may not give him an adult portion of a child's meal. This isn't standard across the board. Some will do it and some will not.

Everyone in the room has to be on the same plan. If you pull your 10yo off the plan, no one else can be on the plan either. It could save you money in certain cases and cost you money in others. If you eat at a lot of family style or buffet meals, the price is based on age. Your 10 yo would have to pay the adult price anyway. At TS and QS meals, your 10 yo can order from the kids meal (much cheaper than the daily adult rate). I would look over your plans and see what your 10 yo will likely eat and where. Price out the plan and paying oop. Pick whichever turns our best. For an adult, you will almost certainly save over paying out of pocket, but will you save enough to cover what you lose paying an adult price for a 10 yo who does not utilize the plan well.

Thank Nala, I didn't know that. I thought they all did. ;)
