Right now We have Directv and when the contract runs out going to Netflix. My questions are for those who have it.

Do we need to have all smart TV's? Right now we have 2 older TVs, one fairly new TV that is hooked up to a Blueray. Internet is already hooked up to all three.
Are there any cable channels that it won't get? I'm assuming that I have to pay for and get HBO another way.
Anything you don't like about it?

All you need is the internet, it does not require smart t.v.'s. I love netflix. I have roku box and enjoy so much. And having my dvd set up to watch movies. Paying only 10 dollars a month is nice.

Netflix isn't like traditional tv, as in you will have to wait for entire seasons to be added after they air, not weekly watching.

So for example if you watch Supernatural every week, you will have to wait until this season is over on tv, then it will be released a few months or so later on Netflix (I'm not sure of the exact timing, I think it depends on the network, such as ABC, CW, etc.)

And not every tv show and/or channel is available on Netflix, so yes there will be a lot that you may not get anymore.

If you are looking to replace weekly up to date watching, you can try Hulu Plus. Some shows are the day after, some the week after. It is $7.99/month.

I also use a Roku. But if you have a Blueray player Netflix and Hulu apps might already be on there.

I believe HBO now has a stand alone subscription for around $10/month.

Netflix is usually older shows(at least a season) and movies. Not shows you can watch on cable instantly. I have netflix, and hulu b/c hulu has next day access to shows I can't watch otherwise (i have an antenna, and missing a couple of channels) I keep Hulu for updated shows I'm watching (i.e. The Middle, The Goldbergs) and Netflix is great for binge watching shows I haven't yet seen, and movies. total for both is about 18.00 per month. Oh, and we use (older) roku boxes to stream stuff, really easy. They cost about $30 at groupon,or ebay,or something.

Netflix is awesome. I especially love their self produced shows. We cut cable 2 years ago and haven't looked back. You won't miss flipping channels all the time. Find a show you like and just watch as many episodes as you want.

My roommate and I don't have cable (we're both grad students in DC), but instead use Sling TV and then a combination of Netflix and Hulu. The one thing we missed when we just had Netflix and Hulu is background noise when we were cooking or something to watch while cleaning/folding laundry that we might not necessarily pay attention to. Sling comes in handy, and I know I got a coupon to prepay for Sling for 3 months and we got a free Roku box (which I found is much better than my Apple TV, but mine is relatively old). When we signed up there were 3 packages, and we pay about $25 per month for 40 channels.

I have Netflix ($9.99/month) Hulu plus (7.99), and cbs all access ($5.99). I watch them on my roku box. I cut cable 1 1/2 years ago and it was the best decision.

Netflix is great for watching seasons of shows you missed. I also like their series, house of cards is a great show.

I have Hulu plus and cbs to stream current shows. I can watch them the day after they air. Hulu plus has all the shows I watch except two so I will wait for them to go onto Netflix next fall.

Also if you have Amazon prime, they have shows on their too. Their show Goliath is very good.

We love it!!! We are also trying Pure Flix as well they are doing a free month when you first sign up.

I honestly love our Netflix account, and I'm thinking of adding Hulu plus. The savings from cutting cable alone is enough to pay for our hotel at Disney
