We have a 6 year old and a 12 year old. The 12 year old doesn't want to do Disneyworld because he thinks he is too old (whatever :headache:). Anyway...we are now thinking about Universal.
Is there much (ride wise) a 6 year old can do. He is tall for his age and can do everything at Disney.
Thanks a bunch!

A few years ago I took my 8 year old to Disney even though she thought she was too old for it. Wow, was she wrong (and she still jokes about how wrong she was back then)! She quickly realized Disney is for all ages and we've been going somewhat regularly since.

Last year we didn't go to Disney but my ex-husband took her to Universal. She enjoyed it, but nowhere near as much as she enjoys Disney.

I can't help you out with ride requirements, but just wanted to share that if YOU really want to go to Disney, I bet your son would enjoy it once he was there...

Universal Studios has a lot more of the tamer rides e.g. simulators (simpsons, nicktoons), shows (animal planet, beetlejuice), more gentle rides (e.t., men in black) gentle-but-scaryish rides (jaws, disaster), childrens areas.

Islands of Adventure has more of the thrill rides e.g. roller coasters and water drops (although the ripsaw falls one is pretty similar to splash mountain), but does also have tamer rides e.g. everything in Seuss Landing, popeye river rapids, pteradon flyers, camp jurassic, spiderman and rides when the new Harry Potter island opens.

Take a look at the brochure: http://www.universalorlandovacations.com/pdf/2010_UNI_brochure.PDF Some rides have height restrictions, but you can see them in the brochure.

It's great to get a 2-park ticket, even if you're just going for one day, since you can pick and choose which rides you want to go on :)
Universals are my favourite parks :)

Universal is a great place for boys. There are dinosaurs, superheroes, Shrek, comics, water rides, horror stuff, Nickelodean, Men in Black, etc. etc. etc.

If your six year old son is a brave boy, he will have an absolute hoot!!!

My 6 yrd old LOVES Universal!
He especially loves the whole Jurassic Park area
He also can do the Suess Landing Area, Spiderman, Jaws, ET

Yes, your 6 yr old will love it too! :lovestruc

My DS 11 loves Universal, is OK with Disney. We have gone almost every year since he was born and bring him to both each year...he still prefers Universal. When he was 6 we found there was a lot for him to do..mostly at Universal Studios.

I would say go for it. The kids will enjoy it!

Bubba is the same. Since he was 7, he preferred Universal over Disney every year. (one reason we bought APs)
