Thinking about getting a steam mop

I haven't found a mop I like in years. I was thinking of getting a steam mop and I was wondering who had one, what do you like or not like about it?

I have posted this same question here before, but have yet to buy one!

We are getting ready to get all new floors on the first level of our home. I am getting solid hardwood in the living room and hallway, and vinyl planking in the kitchen, carpet in the two bedrooms.

Anyways, I will be buying a steam mop. A lot of people seem really happy with their Shark. I have been looking at the Haan. Not sure which I will go with.

I love it! No more chemicals on the floor, it dries immediately so I don't have to barricade the room to let the floor dry, and I can just wash the pads and reuse them.

I have the Shark one and love it! It's so quick to get it ready and no getting a bucket or wringing out a mop. The mop pads just go in the washing machine and are ready again in no time.

Thanks for asking this. I've been thinking about this too since the only way I feel I can really get my floors clean is on my hands and knees with two buckets of water - one with a cleaner and one with rinsing water. I would like to find an easier and quicker way to do it and a steam mop seems the way to go - but is it one of those "too good to be true" things. Anyone else have any opinions? They are quite expensive and I would like more pros and cons before purchasing.

I have a shark and think it's "just ok". I have a large area to clean, and I need extra pads to do the job. If I mop with a regular mop first then it seems to be much easier...but itsn't that defeating the purpose?

I have the Eureka enviro steamer and I love it. I can't compare it to any other but I just like the fact that my floors get clean without chemicals and without me having to scrub/mop/rinse. Its so cool that even my kids don't mind doing it

I forgot about that one. That is actually the last one I was considering! It seems to get very good reviews.

I definitely have no complaints and its not as expensive as some of the others

I have a Shark....actually 2, one at each house.
Love it. Easy to use. I am always amazed at how much dirt it picks up even though my floors don't seem that dirty

I have a huge amount of flooring in AZ....all tile. The whole downstairs and a large bathroom, laundry room and bedroom upstairs.
I use 4-5 pads each time for them all.
I got mine at Costco, so they came with 5 pads each.
WA doesn't have as much flooring, so I brought 2 of the pads from that one to AZ as back ups.

I highly recommend it.

I have a Shark also and it's fine. Like you, I have a very large area and it sometimes takes me two larger pads to get through a few rooms.

I have heard that the Hoover Floormate is better but I can't confirm that.

I have a shark and love it. Bought extra pads for it because I have a fairly large area that's tile. It's so easy and does a great job. I highly recommend it.

I got a Shark as a gift, so I didn't do any research on my own. I really love my Shark.

We noticed the same thing about pushing crumbs/lint, etc. However, in the instruction manual it says that it is *not* intended to pick up items like crumbs and lint. It's just for dirt and sanitizing. Now we usually vacuum our tile prior to using the Shark and we don't have too much trouble. It does a good job at what it's designed to do.

I made sure to sweep the floor first really well though. I think maybe the problem was I didn't use a clean enough pad?? But I know I had a clean pad on and it would still make dirt tracks on the floor. I don't know I went back to a mop

I just bought a Shark last week. I used it this weekend and I love it. Knowing that my floors are sanatary and clean, feels great. It's wasy to use and I just sweep or vacuum before I steam mop.

I have a Whitewing. It was almost $700 with the attachments I wanted. I absolutely love it. My entire house has tile floors. I can clean for 2 solid hours without turning it off and refilling. It has grout cleaning attachments; it has attachments to clean shower doors, the tracks for windows, sliding doors, etc. It can clean the oven and the barbeque grill and it can even be used to clean carpets.

I did research before buying due to the cost and it's very highly rated; the best home use steam cleaner on the market. For me, it was worth it just because of how well it cleans the grout.

I just found this review on Amazon. Seems a bunch of neighbors got together and tested 5 different steamers. They liked the Eureka one. But it's a great comprehensive review, so definitely read the whole thing! I think I need to get one of these. Cleaning my floors is the biggest chore I have and I need something that really works.
