Hello all...right now
I have a tower room at cr booked but DH is starting to freak out about the $. I'm thinking about switching it to the PORS. The only time I've stayed on site we were at all stars music. :) I mentioned switching to my DH today and he said the decision was mine to make.

Anyone out there who has stayed at both? I'd love to hear any and all opinions...I need to make up my mind soon :confused3

TIA
Terri

There is no comparison, one is a deluxe and the other a moderate. Have you concidered simply downgrading your tower room to a wing room? They are the same size as the tower and identical in every othere aspect. THe convenience of the monorail and access to MK is a definite plus.

I thought of that but they are booked.
I'm bummed : :sad1:

When are you going? We also love the WL, and it's cheaper than the CR. We just didn't care for the moderates.

I haven't stayed at the CR....a bit too institutional for my taste. Our family of four stayed at POR in October of 2003. The grounds are beautiful and overall it is a relaxing place to stay. As stated by the previous post, it isn't a deluxe hotel and isn't on the monorail but as moderates go, I think it is the nicest one. Good luck. Regardless of where you stay, I'm sure you will have a great time.

We are going Oct 29-Nov 4. One of the reasons we wanted a deluxe was so my DD12 and DD8 would not have to share a bed (they hate doing that) and CR has the day bed. But I've heard there are trundle beds at POR so either way I think it will be ok. ;) We will be at Disney after all :earsgirl:

As far as theming goes, the CR has to be the most plain and boring-looking resort. And as far as I'm concerned, POR is one of the most beautifully themed resorts. It has remained my family's favorite so far. My two teens don't care for sharing a bed either, but for the amount of money involved, they have no choice (not that they really care ... hey, they're at Disney!).

TerriC, I agree with the previous poster about POR. WE stayed at POFQ in July and wished we were at POR from before we went! It's a lovely mederate, beautiful grounds. I have heard that the trundle is quite small though, with your girls' ages you may want to bring an aerobed. My girls are 8 & 10 and sleep together at home on a queen, but toss, turn, kick and sleep sideways. We took a queen aerobed and one slept on it and the other slept with me (the mods. have full beds and DH is 6'2", so it's tight for us on a full). DD10 took the aeerobed, it was a little tight fitting it between the bed closest to the door and the door but it fit. We just slid it up against the wall each morning since the beds won't let you slide things underneath at POFQ. I think there is a pic. of the trundle on the POR resort photo page at www.allearsnet.com, Deb Willis' sight. HTH! You'll enjoy yourself regardless. BTW, that's a great time to go, the temp and crowd levels usually are pretty moderate!

Have you considered a Fort Wilderness Cabin? They are great, you get extra living space and a full kitchen. The bedroom has a double bed and a set of bunk beds, and the living room as a pull down Murohy bed. Transportaion, however, is a bit more difficult to parks other than the MK. Will you have a car? This makes travels far easier.
Just a thought.

POR is my favorite. I'd choose POR. In my opinion, POR is not that far of a step down from a deluxe. We love the food court. It's so nice to get a quick bite to eat. CR has a small food court with very limited selection. We just spent Labor Day Weekend at POR. We loved it! We were in BLD 90. It was a good walk to the bus, but we only used the bus for MK. We used our car to go elsewhere. If you do have a car, you're just minutes away from the shops and restaurants at Cross Roads. If you'd like to see pictures from our weekend at the resort, send me a PM.

An other vote for POR, in june whe loved it so much that we are going back for New Years!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks for all the great ideas :) After looking at the pictures on allears my DD8 wants to stay at the POFQ. She really liked the pool :wizard: And my DD12 thought it would be interesting since New Orleans has been in the news so much lately. And I love the idea of taking an aerobed..I didn't know this was even an option. (thanks RCRAW45425)

But we will not have a car...flying from NC. That's one of the reasons we orig wanted CR. My DH was not overly impressed with the bus transportation on our last visit. But our last trip we stayed at a value during spring break.

And I already have my ADRS and some of those are more convenient from the CR. I guess that's more of a restaurant board issue ::MinnieMo

I have a few more days to think it over...either way I can't wait

I have stayed at both & while CR is a deluxe, I will take PO-R over it any day! We love PO-R. I never felt comfortable walking thru the lobby in the CR..tooooo many business suits for me & theme isn't the greatest...only pros on this resort were: walk to MK, has the most sq footage for a standard room & the bathrooms had a seperate toilet area (with it's own door), helps out with you have 5 that are trying to get ready in the am

TerriC, if you're flying maybe the aerobed would fit in a suitcase? Ours rolls into a bag the size of a sleeping bag, but heavier, has the pump with it. THe POFQ was okay, the bathroom has tub & pottie behind the door, then two pedestal sinks outside, like a Holiday Inn setup, but with a curtain that you can close to give a little privacy to the sleeping part. We are also a family of 4 and were just a little cramped with three "diva" girls and lots of clothes/shoes. The pool there is okay, but the slide is shorter than the slides at the deluxes. For the price difference( we paid $99 a night with AP) it was okay since the BWI was going to run me around $250 for a standard room and this was a last minute trip. As I said before, if this is the only way you can go, by all means try the moderate. POFQ shares a table service restaurant with POR, so you have to go over there for sit down dining. Enjoy!
