Thinking about canceling HDDR

I read somewhere that HDDR is better for older kids that can get the Humor and that Mickey's Back Yard Barbacue was a better option for younger kids. Is this accurate?

We have ressies for HDDR, I am just wondering if MBYB would be a better option for us with boys age 5 +7.

I can't beleive how much planning I am putting into dining reservations.

Your kids are the PERFECT age for HDDR! Oh, please, don't cancel! Mine were 5 and 7 the first time they saw it and the result? They beg to go back every trip. They are 13 and turning 16 and we have to go back this summer. My sister loved it when she was as young as 2 or 3. It is a great show for all ages. Some of the more adult jokes might go a little over their heads, but they won't notice!;)

We've bee to HDDR many times and the kids all love it. MBYBBQ, IMHO, was njot as much fun. Enjoy

My kids were 5 and 7 this last trip and LOVED the HDDR! In fact, my son was even picked to go on stage (the 5 year old). It was one of my favorite meals of my trip. I would go!

DD was 14 months old when we went...She loved it. The food is actually tasty ...and the Strawberry Shortcake MMMM. The performnce is corny and FUN.

I was very worried about Hoop-Dee-Doo. Went Oct. 2009, itwas a lot of fun for DH, DW and DS4. Our 4yr old son laughed the whole time. Our waitress was very funny and joked around with us. The food was was good but it's just chicken, ribs, beans, etc... Definitely buy the $32 pictures they take before the show outside. One side is your family, and the photo on the other side is the cast from HDD. Hard to get a good photo of the whole cast on stage because there is so much movement.

Mickey's Backyard BBQ was fun. I think this would be more fun with a large group like we had last year. Kids liked the rope tricks and dancing with the characters. Live country music. A lot of fun. The food was good, but just ordinary buffet food. It's outside under a roof so nice weather would make it more fun (not too hot or cold).

My 9 y/o LOVED it.
The singing and dancing was GREAT.
I really liked the food, some didn't, but I DID!!!

HDDR, definitely. Mickeys was one of our least fav show dining experiences

HDDR for sure. Our Grandson was 4 when we went and he had a ball. He too was picked to go on stay.
This October we went as a party of adults and also had a blast.
I have read mixed reviews about the barbeque being a madhouse with mediocre food.
Enjoy

We have done HDDR many times thru the years with our 3 boys. They are all grown now, 26,24 and 22 and they still talk about how much they enjoyed it. We think the food is good too. I agree with PP the strawberry shortcake is yummy!

This has become a family tradition for us. My DS was chosen to be in the show when he was 5. I don't think I can take my family to Disney without this show :goodvibes.

My three boys loved this show! We are going back shortly and they are sad we are not going back!

I have that song in my head, now. LOL.
It really is a great show. I think you should experience ONCE.
It is the longest running show of any kind.....the dancing and singing is great.
Food isn't that bad and you get FREE WINE. LOL. :cool1:
