Hi everyone! I have been thinking about buying in to the DVC and I have a few questions.

1) When you book your vacation either 11 months or 7 months out, when do your points actually get debited? In other words, if I want to stay in October and my new points are credited in September, can I still book 7 or 11 months earlier even if the points won't be in my account until September?

2) Does anyone have a points chart for the DCL? I was able to find points charts for the resorts but not the cruise line.

Reservations may be made based on the points that will be available at the time of the stay. So if you have a September Use Year- you can still reserve 11 months ahead (at your home resort) of an October reservation even though the points won't be available until September 1. The points are debited from your account when the reservation is made - although they would be re-deposited if you were to cancel the reservation more than 30 days ahead.

2) Does anyone have a points chart for the DCL? I was able to find points charts for the resorts but not the cruise line.

I don't think that the DCL point chart for 2008 is available yet (2007 is available though). The points needed for the DVC resorts usually is available about 15 months ahead (the charts are released in the fall each year). Charts for the non-DVC options usually lag behind by several months.

Your UY of September has nothing to do with when you can book a trip. It is merely the date when your points are replenished each year. So yes, you can book 11 months prior at your home resort and 7 months prior to a trip at any other DVC resort as long as your points will be available at that time. Your points aren't actually "used up" until you make the trip as you can make changes up to 31 days before the trip with no restrictions on your points.

The points chart for the DCL changes every year, as do the points charts for the non-DVC resorts at WDW.

The only place I'm aware of the point schedule for DCL is on the member site. There are many cruises listed there. My understanding is that it is not a great trade to use points for DCL cruises...same as staying at non-DVC resorts at WDW.

Edited to add: Doc is correct in that the schedule I was referring to is the 2007 cruise point schedule. I think other than that, we posted similar information at the same time.
