Thinking about buying a new or used 5th wheel

After a few year break with our camper and the addition of 2 kids I am thinking about upgrading to a 5th wheel with some slides. I would like something in the 30' to 36' range and probably mid profile. I am not concerned a lot with luxury just functionality and good construction. I will be looking at approx. 5 yr old or newer rigs, and I will probably check out some new ones just to see how much they are willing to deal.

Any recommendations or ones to avoid? I have not kept up with the camper industry in a long time.

I would recommend a toy hauler. Right now we are storing furniture and other things inside it while we remodel a room in the house. Did I mention they can haul a golf cart. Another thing I have found nice about a toy hauler is when you are camping in the summer time and you get to the camp grounds and you trailer is real hot inside just open the toy hauler loading door and the heat goes out fast.

I would recommend something that will have plenty of room for your fish'n equipment, you can never have enough storage. Even now I'm saying that I wish I had more storage in our camper for my fish'n poles.

I say the same as Lonestar. Even if you don't have toys or a cart it's nice to have a space for all the stuff you bring along. Most have beds in the garages now to double duty the space.

A toy hauler is high on my list. I also race off road motorcycles, and we have wanted one for a while. But I am leaving all options open at this point. I could get by with a moto hauler on the back, if needed. It has been my experience that used toy haulers tend to be used a lot harder than most RV's...at least in the circles that we frequent.

I was literally sick at my stomach today when my wife (who works at our bank) told me of a repo 2004 31' 5'er that we could have bought for $5800. Only missed it by one month.

The search continues.
