Flight...free (using airline points)
Value resort (thinking either music or movies, less points than pop...free (using airline points)

4 day pass using the YES program...around $310 (m-t)
Food (we will split most meals)...$250
Extra money for whatever...$150
(I think I've covered everything)

I hate that my husband can't get the time off work to go with us, but I don't see the opportunity coming up for a few years to go again. My son really wants to go and I can make it happen at what seems to be a great deal, however, I'm nervous with it just being myself and my son.

Does this seem like a good deal/idea?? Please give me all angles to consider to help make this decision :wizard:

Don't be. I took my daughter without DH when she was 5 for a long weekend and we had a blast. Staying onsite makes it super easy since there is no transportation to worry about. I would do it again in a HEARTBEAT!

Have you considered waiting to see if free dining is offered? You wouldn't be able to do YES this way, but it might be less expensive.

She's using airline miles to pay for a room-only reservation. If she gets a package, she might not be able to use her points to pay for it, and she'd end up paying a lot more out-of-pocket.

I got asked by work to attend a seminar in Orlando under short notice this January. I wanted to take the family along, but my 8yo son was the only one who could. He sat next to me during the seminar working on homework, reading, and playing angry birds. In the late afternoon and evenings we hit Disney. Considering it was January, the two of us saw all four parks and rode almost everything we wanted. We even went to gatorland before checking in at POR. I cant say he was a perfect angel but he was very good and tolerated the boring adults for three days. Hopefully he will remember the adventure with Dad for years.

I would book it. Wow you are getting an amazing deal. If you have points to pay for the airline and value that is a much better deal then trying to get free dining.

I am planning to take DD9 this fall and DH is not going. I think it will be a great time for just 2 of us. Just think of the memories he will have of the trip!

Go for it!
