Thinking about a family trip to DC...hotel recommendations?

We just got back last week from an overnight stay in DC. We stayed at the Washington Marriott. It is near Embassy Row in the Foggy Bottom area. The hotel was about 3 blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro station. It's a nice neighborhood and the hotel was nice also.

I haven't stayed there, but I researched the Hotel Harrington (Harrington Hotel?) for someone about two years ago. It's a family/group style hotel--sort of like the kidsuites idea, but older. They have a website, so you might want to check them out.

They are near a Metro stop and parking is available about 2 blocks away. Can't remember the cost, but it seems expensive when you're accustomed to suburbia and free parking!

The only place I've ever stayed in Loewe's L'Enfant Plaza right near the mall and Smithsonian. It's usually the most convenient when I'm there on business.

A few years ago we stayed at Le'Enfant Plaza and loved it. The boys were probably 11 and 14 at the time and were very impressed with the tv in the bathroom. We parked the car in their garage and didn't need it the whole 4 days we were there. We were there over a weekend, so we got a pretty good rate- maybe $130? The mall underneath the hotel was pretty deserted on the weekend, only a couple things were open, but it was neat to see. The view from our room was great- the Washington Monument sraight ahead, and the Ronald Reagan Airport to the left. It was probably our one and only trip to DC, so I am very glad we chose this hotel- the location was great! Good luck with your search!

We're making our first trip in 6 weeks. We're staying at the Loews L'Enfant Plaza. It's right by the National Mall. I wanted Embassy Suites, but Loews' location is far better. There's a Metro station under the hotel. Plus, we joined the Loews First program with the extra goodies. We'll rack up enough points to get an upgrade at one of Universal properties. We're also getting free breakfast with AAA membership.

Happy Planning!
