Think I've Done Something Stupid

Update!? Hope the training is going well!!

Aw thanks for asking.

Training is going well, I did a Ten miles the other weekend in 2hr and 10mins which gave me confidence that I'm going to finish in the allotted 3hr 30min you have to do it in.

I'll know more as this weekend I will be doing a 12 mile run, so if I can do that in under 3 hours I will be so happy.

But it is getting harder to run in the evenings as it so dark, so some of the running routes (as I'm in the country) I was using, I can't run now as they have no lights. So doing more street running, making sure I'm wearing bright things

You're going to be fine if you've nailed your 10 miler in 2:10. Even if you walk the last 3.1 you'd be fine.

Sounds like you're doing just great

Running in the dark is tough. I run in the mornings but I'm s good hour into my run before any daylight starts to creep in. I run with a small but powerful flashlight clipped to my running waist belt and use it to check the paths for stray critters. It's a pain having to angle it while running, but I feel much better for it. Also the heat has subsided from what it was a month ago. Bring on November weather!!

I'm doing the marathon in celebration in January because I couldn't bear the notion of having my heaviest mileage through the summer months. Kudos to you guys training now for November. As the temps drop, you'll feel the gains of your commitment over the last months. All the best for your 12 miles. You'll be fine!!!

Doesn't it feel great to read your first post and see how far you've come?

PS do you use a sports watch or a running app?

Thanks @2Tiggies and my 12 miler went very well did it in 2hrs 35mins so now, so much more confident that I'll be able to do it; and hopefully in under 3hrs.

Yep, I've come a long way since when I first signed up. Now fingers crossed, 4 weeks today, I'm all smiles with my run Disney medal round my neck.

Oh but good luck for your marathon in January think a full ones a bit to much for me lol. But I Know you'll smash it :cool1:

Oh and I'm using my Husband Nike marathon watch (he ran the London marathon the other year) it's a bit on the big side but gotten used to it now and it helps with pacing.

I think it's safe to say you pretty much have a finish in the bag :) You'll be able to relax into it a bit knowing what you can do now. Also, most people tend to run faster in a race than they do on a training run so you may surprise yourself even more. Either way, enjoy the experience. It's a nice time of year to run too. Not too cold in the morning, but lower humidity and no 80+ degrees at 5 am! I'm kind of envious of the medal you'll get for this one. Disney really does pull out all the stops for the bling in the races. You are braver than me though. I don't want to run such big races. Please post an update when you get back and let us know how it goes.

Oh, and about the marathon ... I said the same as you a year ago .... ;) Just sayin'

How did it go? I hope you crushed it!

I KNOW she would have crushed it :D We were at Disney this weekend and I was thinking about the OP wondering how it went. Hopefully she is still celebrating!
